Overconfidence - We are 3 last second plays away from being 3-3

It's a good idea to put every poster who says we shouldn't be happy and excited about this season on ignore;)
I never once have said we shouldn’t be happy. If you read what I wrote, you’d see that I said I’m euphoric! You can call me “stupid” as you did all you want. Doesn’t impact me. I appreciate the respectful responses.

PS- that 3-3 is kind of off the mark if you consider the actual flows of those games. Bama was evenly matched... with one of the 3 best teams in the country. Toe to toe. Blow for blow and UT won.

UF wasn't as close as the score. They needed, and got, miracles to be in it at the end. UT played about as poorly as it could vs Pitt and still won... compare to Bama's game against TAM and UGA's games against Mizzou and Kent State. One sign of a great team is still beating good teams while having a bad day.

Negavols probably don't like this offense and defense and don't like how they're winning so they make themselves miserable on purpose.
I love our team and am perfectly happy. There’s a difference in being level-headed and miserable.

BVS is real my friend. My doctor said I may never recover completely. But I'm taking it day by day. 🤣

Do you suffer with Battered Vol Syndrome or BVS? Symptoms include despair, hopelessness, feelings of dread, and anxiety. Now there is a treatment.
If you think you may have BVS, ask your Doctor about Rockytoppin.
Rockytoppin is clinically proven to help with BVS. Rockytoppin is safe and effective. The only Side effect is euphoria. Caution, Rockytoppin can be habit forming.
See your doctor today for Rockytoppin.

Look…I was a charter NegaVol during our wandering through the football wilderness. I didn’t ask for a lot…just a competent administration and AD, and a coach who could do more with less. I wanted to compete, win the ones we were supposed to, and steal one every now and then as we rebuild. All of my wishes have been met, in spades. I’m playing with house money at this point. Whether we make it to Atlanta or not we are ahead of the curve. I fail to see how worrying about close wins, how tough Kentucky is, the secondary, or anything else is that important in what is still a rebuilding year. We still have a short roster, but now have a coach who is developing the talent we have while killing it in recruiting the talent we need. Seriously…what is there to be concerned with at the level some people insist on? Throughout our lives we don’t many magical seasons, some programs don’t get any…why do we worry them away? If I’ve learned anything since 98, it’s that you aren’t promised another one. Enjoy it while it’s good.

I'm sorry that some people are miserable and want to be rude. I think your post was fine. Nothing wrong with it.

OP has a point. As fans we can be on cloud 9 and we can afford to be and deserve it. But the players and coaching staff had better take KY seriously and not be over confident. I believe they will so enjoy this while is lasts.

I am old enough to remember the Ole Miss game years ago when we had a top ranked team and Ole Miss was trash. One of our players called Ole Miss a bunch of mules. We went to Oxford and got beat 38-0.

I was a wreck Saturday night. Due to my bvs acting up I was trying to figure out how we were going to mess it up. Then kick went through and man did my bvs symptoms go away. I'm 36 with too much gray hair already lol. Mine started around Dooley Era.

Neyland's Game Maxims
The team that makes the fewest mistakes will win.
Play for and make the breaks. When one comes your way—SCORE.
If at first the game—or the breaks—go against you, don't let up . . . put on more steam.
Protect our kickers, our QB, our lead and our ball game.
Ball, oskie, cover, block, cut and slice, pursue and gang tackle for this is the WINNING EDGE.
Press the kicking game. Here is where the breaks are made.
Carry the fight to our opponent and keep it there for 60 minutes.

We are all admittedly on cloud 9 right now. For many of us younger fans, this is the best time to be a Vol fan in our lifetime. Saturday was no doubt euphoric. That said, I’ve read a lot and listened to some fans on social media and radio and many are acting as if we are now invincible. This is only a segment of fans but it seems to be a big portion. Too many of us are partaking of the RAT POISON!

Crash and burn is the worst feeling. While I don’t believe that is going to happen, we have to remember that we have literally won 3 games on the last play of the game. While UGA is the biggest game left and will be our final real obstacle before the SECCG, we gotta take KY seriously as well. Why are so many overlooking them? They have a bunch of dudes that will play on Sundays, 2 weeks to rest, a stout D, and have the best RB in the league. We only beat them by 3 last year (and we likely would have lost if the refs had caught the Levis face mask). There’s a reason the line is only -5.5. We all saw Missouri almost pulled an upset on UGA.

Perspective is important. We are one QB injury away from disaster. So for those who believe they should just go ahead and hand us the title, I simply suggest to enjoy this time but slow your roll so we all don’t look like fools to the world if we slip up. Other SEC fan bases would love nothing more than to see us crash and burn now. That said, I believe we are the best team in the country and this ride is amazing! I will talk so much smack come December if we get to and win in Atlanta. But for now, one week at a time is the way to get to the promised land.

GBO!

A win on a last second field goal
A win when the opponent missed a tying field goal from 32 yards
Four stops and a one yard goal line stand in the 2nd quarter
An unexpected fumble recovery when we were trailing and scored with 28 seconds to go
Trailing 14-10 with 8:43 to go in the game and win 24-14

These games look familiar:
Syracuse 1998
Florida 1998
Auburn 1998
Arkansas 1998
Mississippi State 1998 SEC Championship Game

Would you trade in that National Championship because we could have lost 5 games?

Great teams find ways to win. Bama is 5 points away from being 4-3 right now.

What do I do if euphoria last longer than 8 hours?

You're more miserable than level headed you may not last long here seeing that next to nobody agrees with you.
You’re notoriously rude to many posters, Jeff. Like many, I’m sure you’re probably a good guy in real life when not behind a keyboard, but your opinion and your consistently wrong predictions of games not involving UT are of little to no value to me. And if others followed your posts close enough, they’d agree on both fronts.

Should Tennessee renounce the 1998 National Championship also?

DPI and last second FG to win at Syracuse
Missed FG in OT to win vs FL
Improbable fumble and last minute TD to win vs Arkansas
