Overconfidence - We are 3 last second plays away from being 3-3

We are all admittedly on cloud 9 right now. For many of us younger fans, this is the best time to be a Vol fan in our lifetime. Saturday was no doubt euphoric. That said, I’ve read a lot and listened to some fans on social media and radio and many are acting as if we are now invincible. This is only a segment of fans but it seems to be a big portion. Too many of us are partaking of the RAT POISON!

Crash and burn is the worst feeling. While I don’t believe that is going to happen, we have to remember that we have literally won 3 games on the last play of the game. While UGA is the biggest game left and will be our final real obstacle before the SECCG, we gotta take KY seriously as well. Why are so many overlooking them? They have a bunch of dudes that will play on Sundays, 2 weeks to rest, a stout D, and have the best RB in the league. We only beat them by 3 last year (and we likely would have lost if the refs had caught the Levis face mask). There’s a reason the line is only -5.5. We all saw Missouri almost pulled an upset on UGA.

Perspective is important. We are one QB injury away from disaster. So for those who believe they should just go ahead and hand us the title, I simply suggest to enjoy this time but slow your roll so we all don’t look like fools to the world if we slip up. Other SEC fan bases would love nothing more than to see us crash and burn now. That said, I believe we are the best team in the country and this ride is amazing! I will talk so much smack come December if we get to and win in Atlanta. But for now, one week at a time is the way to get to the promised land.

GBO!

Gloom, despair and agony on me. Deep dark depression, excessive misery.

Good lord, enjoy the wins.

Jeff - You know better than that nonsense, man. If only I had a penny for every time you’ve been historically wrong on your takes, particularly about your game predictions/scores, I could have reimbursed for the goal post all by myself. Enough with your rudeness.
Good call on your 30 posts 😂 troll

You can tell this Tennessee team is for real we're getting Trolls telling us we shouldn't enjoy being 6-0 and being ranked #3. These Trolls have to be nervous Kentucky and Georgia fans or angry and bitter Alabama fans.

How so OP?

Pitt scores it goes to 2nd overtime.
Bama hits FG, Tennessee still has the same 15 seconds with a pretty good kicker, a great QB and receivers……who knows.

However in NO way could anyone say Tennessee would be 3-3…….cause those wouldn’t have been end of game situations.

Thanks for your solid post and letting us know what's wrong. Simply put could of, would of should of is what separates men from boys. Really dumb on your part.
But yet you look at it this way. What happens will happen. Enjoy this versus picking holes in it. Not a fan in a way looking for the what ifs of history vs what can happen.

You need Perspective not us. We have no reason to believe anything will happen good or bad. It is what it is and take it for what it is worth. Why do we care what other groups think or want.

I'm old enough to remember a season where:
- a DPI on the opponent led to a FG as time expired
- a missed FG by the opponent led to a victory in OT
- a last minute fumble led to us driving in for a game-winning TD

Oh my goodness, we could have lost three games in '98!

You’ve been here since last month telling everyone to slow our roll because we had a couple of close wins.

Guess what? We’re 6-0! You nor anybody else will take that away from us.

Go crawl back into your hole troll.

As long as it is just the fans who are over-confident or under-confident, we will be okay.

I'm sure the team is focused on the opponent coming up and not looking ahead.

But we are 6-0 and I doubt anyone thought we would be - ENJOY IT!

Good day man. Nothing any fans say has any bearing on the team. There is no such thing as luck or karma. If people want to think we are going undefeated and are the best team of all time then so be it. It’s not up to you to tell people to pump the brakes. Let them enjoy it. If you want to be more reserved then that’s fine.

Besides. We have gotten better as the year has gone on. Would we really go into OT with Pitt now ? Very doubtful, we’d beat them by multiple scores

It seems like the more Tennessee wins the more Trolls we get.:D I wonder what the Trolls will be like if Tennessee beats Georgia and is 9-0?

3-3 was about where most had Tennessee after 6 anyway. Win total was 7.5 so Vegas was thinking 4-2 or 3-3. Until Tennessee gets better on defense, pretty much all wins are gonna come down to last play or plays.

We had 4 games in 1998 that came down to the last play, and 2 more that weren’t decided until late in the 4th quarter. Every championship team has had close calls and a little luck along the way. Let’s enjoy this amazing feeling now and take it one game at a time.

This was exactly my thought. 1998 had an overtime win, multiple 1 score games, and of course the Stoerner Stumble. The ability to be a winner, to be a closer, that means something. They're not all like uga last year who had blowouts over everyone except for their one loss where they were blown out. I don't know if UT will win it all this year, personally after seeing the greatest regular season college baseball team in history crap the bed (2022 UT Vols) it's really more about being hot at the right time. We'll know a whole lot more this time in November. Even with 1 loss to uga everything is still ahead, so if the vols do lose that game I'm ok with it because that might be the thing to get their mind right.

Why are so many overlooking them?!

Well I'm not actually on the team. I'm not a player on the field. I don't call plays. I don't prepare scouting reports. In fact, I don't do anything that directly impacts the results of the game.

So it really doesn't f'n matter if I overlook Kentucky or anyone else.

We have to remember that we have literally won 3 games on the last play of the game.

We have "literally" won 6 games on the last play of the game. Every team "literally" wins or loses every game on the last play of the game. I'm not sure you're using that word correctly.

If you want to make it about close games and a single play having the potential to change the outcome, then that's every game decided by less than two scores.

We are one QB injury away from disaster.

Our backup quarterback is a fifth year Senior that is in his second season in this program and has started and won multiple games for both Tennessee and Michigan. He is one of the most physically gifted QBs to have ever played the game at any level. He would be the starter on numerous BCS-level programs.

He's not on the Hendo Hooker level, few are, but he is more than adequate to lead the team if needed. I'd bet on a Milton led UT team over everyone we have left on our schedule with the exception of Georgia. That's an 11-1 season, far from a "disaster."

So for those who believe they should just go ahead and hand us the title

Who exactly are you describing here? Nobody is saying this. Nobody.

This is the only thing you should have posted. And it didn't need its own thread to do it.

What are you on about? Both you guys accounts are barely a month old.

How the heck do you use "historically wrong" as an adverb?
Did you have a previous account you deleted?

@Jeff Clark has 2,540 posts. By the penny that's $25.40 cents. That's a good deal on goal posts.

I don't think you're a troll, but your post was kind of all over the place and seemed a little sanctimonious IMHO. I think that might be why you're getting some negative responses.

I've got a confession. I ended up making a fool of myself with long rambling posts when I first registered my account. I thought I knew allot more about football and UT than I really did at the time. I quit trying to be right, arguing, and responding to rebuttals. Then I just started trying to be a part of the conversation and before I knew it I was developing a rapport with many knowledgeable posters.

We were also a pass interference call against Syracuse and a Stoerner fumble away from being 10-2 in 98 as well. What’s the point OP?
