I have a hard time believing that the Office is not a big ratings draw, reruns are being aired on numerous stations.

Just checking last week, the Office got 6.6 mil while stuff like 2.5 Men had 13.75 mil and Big Bang Theory had 13.6 mil. The numbers over the year don't deviate much from those either.

i just don't understand that. i have a friend who swears by 2 and a half men and thinks it's one of the best shows on television. i've just never understood the appeal or why it's so popular with that many people. i've watched a few episodes and think i've only ever caught myself thinking a scene was funny a couple of times. it's the same humor or variation of the same humor over and over and over again alot of the time. i think jokes revolving around charlie's bachelor type lifestyle and alan's nerdiness or ineptitude with women accounts for roughly 98% of the episodic content aired in the series.

I watched it for the first season and a half. I haven't missed it since I quit watching. I do believe I am missing a boat-load of hotties according to the previews every week though.

They do seem to have a lot of hotties on the show. And I agree, duckman, on the humor. Big Bang Theory is the same to me too. Four nerds who make sci-fi references, are bad with girls, and are socially awkward.

i actually like the big bang theory. it has the same premise on most of the episodes, but the writers and producers deal with it in the right way IMO. wheras 2AAHM beats the same joke into the ground again and again. i haven't watched it lately, but thought the first 2 seasons were pretty good.

if you want to see an insanely funny show, buy the arrested development series on dvd and watch it. that series had some of the most clever writing and humor i've ever seen for a sitcom IMO. it's a shame that it didnt last longer than it did.

The little I've watched of Big Bang wasn't bad, but not good enough to get me to watch.

I've only seen 2-3 eps of Big Bang so I don't have much to go on but I wasn't too impressed. One was the short guy trying to fit in with the hot chick's friends while they watched football which I thought was way too nerdy to be funny.

I agree on Arrested Development. I wish I would've watched it when my friends all told me to. It's a travesty that show lasted only 3 yrs, each shorter than the last, while plenty of other crap is still on tv. I still haven't seen most of the 2nd season so I have that to look forward too, plus the movie next year I think.

Not even close, but I guess it's just a matter of opinion.

Best Sitcoms of All Time - Top 50 Funniest TV Shows Counted Down, Page 9 of 9 - Associated Content - associatedcontent.com

Here's a Top 50 without it. I've seen it ranked in other lists, but never very high.

I'm glad you posted this. I've always thought Seinfeld was overrated. It's still a good show but whenever I watch it now I hardly ever laugh.

It seems kinda like the Beatles thing, it has been considered the "best" for so long that it can only be considered overrated.

That's not an overrated list. That's a "best" list and Seinfield belongs at the top.

Men of a Certain Age > Everybody Loves Raymond

As far as overrated, I would say roughly 80% of the stuff on TV is overrated until it gets cancelled. Then expectations and reality start to combine.

Guess that opinion stems mostly from why I watch Premium TV shows like Dexter and miniseries like The Pacific, the Discovery/History channel, and then I mostly just watch movies and sports. When you're married you also have the "shows you can stomach" to watch together. Those include Survivor and The Amazing Race and Food Network shows for me. That's about it.

Neither me or my wife can get into the plethora of pretty bad sitcoms out there nowadays. I have no idea what it is, but they are either nothing like 80's and 90's sitcoms at all or I've just changed that much.

do yourself a favor and catch Modern Family some time. you're running out of time to catch a new ep this season, but when you get a chance, check out some eps online.

I might get killed for this one but I have never understood the fascination with American Karaoke. Outside of Daughtry(?) and the blond chick how many winners have had more than one successful album or become big time stars.

Also CSI is stupid with its one liners and the ability to find the missing clue that evaded them the first 20x they searched the crime scene.

I could watch The Office and Seinfeld all day long.

Scrubs ratings from season four and on weren't on par with it, and The Office has never been a ratings draw.

I agree that's why shows like TAAHM are so popular.

I thought Two and A Half Men was funny the first few times I watched it, I soon realized that if you watch one episode you've seen them all.

I guess the most overrated piece of crap that I can think of is Grey's Anatomy, there are some lonely women in the world keeping that historic waste afloat.

I used to like Two and a Half men, when the kid was younger and the younger brother was more scared of life in general. Now, it's like all the characters are competing to be the biggest prick imaginable.

I think Scrubs is overrated, to be honest.

I find it be very funny, not only that it has some pretty serious stuff in there too that sometimes can come off as forced but overall goes well with the show and the characters.

The show had some great characters...Dr. Cox is one of my all-time favs.
