PAC-10 vs. the SEC

Um...yes, we do have an offensive genius and a great leader for a coach. Such a terrible thing. UO is in a city slightly smaller than Knoxville and an hour and a half away from a city of 600,000 people.
Yeah, such a genius that Boise and Ohio State held his team to nothing. Eugene has been where it's at forever. You've sucked forever. That's not changing.

Boy, if a 10 win season with a BCS bowl berth is "sucking", then what did Tennessee do the past 2 years?

If we're going to get in this sort of debate, I'm glad to give you that Oregon has been better than UT in its worst two year stretch since before you were born. Now, let's see what your biggest accomplishment of, say, the last 20 years is.

Hoorah, you won the PAC 10. The fact you'd have finished no better than third in either division of the SEC doesn't diminish that accomplishment at all. Oh, wait.

This little gem I found off of Oregon's athletic site says all you need to know about the great Duck program.

the athletic department named the playing surface of Autzen Stadium after its winningest football coach of all time Rich Brooks in 1995.

Now that's success.

The sad part is the fact that he couldn't get over nine wins in a single season.

Didn't even make a bowl game until his thirteenth season with the program.

I envy the football powerhouse with an offensive genius who coached New Hampshire four years ago.

Come on now. Naming the field after a guy that was 23 games under .500 in the PAC-10 has to inspire so much pride in their fans.

Apparently winning one bowl game in eighteen years is worth naming a field after you.

I was laughing harder at offenive genius, but it's a tough call.

Stop kidding yourself. You guys were CLAMORING to hire Kelly back in '07 after Cutcliffe lrft. He's invented his own brand of the spread offense, and it's nothing short of genius. The complex blocking schemes, the play-calling...if you don't think he's an offensive genius, you're either disagreeing to rile someone up or you're completely clueless about football.

If by clamoring, you mean a few knuckleheads around here who were impressed by Dennis Dixon, then you're right.

This next season will be interesting to see how he does, his performance as a play-caller hasn't been very good without an experienced running QB. I've seen it first-hand, give him an immobile QB and he can get lost. Doesn't say too much good about him.

For what it's worth, I also don't think he should have been given reins of the program, especially now that Belotti is gone. I'd be willing to wager that if Kelly is HC at Oregon for four more years, the program will be on probation in that time span.

At least you're entertaining. We were pining for Kelly yet hired a guy from Richmond. Good stuff.

Tennessee zone blocks and traps too.

Since he considers a PAC 10 title won in an off year for USC a precursor to national prominance, we shouldn't be surprised that fits his definition of clamoring.

In Oregon's best year ever, they were still about 40 points worse than the national champion... What an elite program.

Miami's team were stacked. That's how

Well, they never got a chance to prove that since we got screwed out of playing in the BCS Championship Game, despite being #2 in both the AP and Coaches Poll. We handily beat #3 Colorado by 22 in the Fiesta Bowl. It was BS.

It's better you're on the outside looking in and complaining then being down 35 points at half time.

Oregon has not peaked yet, not by a long shot. That is basically all I'm saying. Washington getting better, Cal getting better - hell the whole conference getting better outside of WSU is not going to prevent Oregon from tasting future success.

Quite the opposite. In fact they will be on the equivelant of a Jenny Craig diet.
