Pat Summitt Steps Down

It will certainly be weird seeing another coach on the side of the court. I will miss the evil looks she gave her players

In these days of hatefulness toward opponents and practically everything else, "It's about ME!", "winning is everything", and "I want it NOW" she is perhaps one of the last sportspersons alive to not only understand and embrace but epitomize what amateur sports and sportsmanship used to be about in the main. A person who will fight you to the last ounce of breath to win, never gives up, hates losing like death but is gracious and complimentary in defeat and even more determined never to lose again...but to ALWAYS win the right way. And... she knew the right way and wouldn't stray from it. She led a mostly classy era of women's sports that is probably coming to a close with the current selfish attitude of us as people today (in general). You just can't make up a Pat Head Summit. In fact, we don't even have the imagination to do so.

Let's honor Pat Summit today. She's deserved it and her staff deserves the praise for their hard work and all the success they've been able to see come to fruition. Stop with the negativity. Complete stupidity to already start on Warlick.

Wow, what a legacy she has left. One of the best coaches ever, without a doubt.

I'm glad she was able to make a hasty decision in her tough situation.

Congrats and THANK YOU, PAT!!

Sad day for the Vol family. She was a great coach and an outstanding person as far as I can tell. I wish her the best.

Try and respect, honor, and appreciate the career of a truely sports changing woman. Anything less is unacceptable at this time. :twocents:

I have little confidence in Holly. I think the program will fall from top #5 to top # 25 with her as the coach.

Ditto. Yes, she gets an opportunity, but I see a downward spiral. I certainly hopes she succeeds but the Matthews at KY or Caldwell at LSU or the coach on ESPN, Carolyn Peck would be mucho better. I guess we'll see.

no. we won't be in the top 25. why on earth did we nor go out and get a coach who could continue to recruit the name players we need to compete. oh well, pat is the only reason i followed u t women's basketball. with her gone now, i'm done with them.

Thank God. The team does not want you or need you.
