"Everyone is still even with me. Alabama made a great impression, but I have no favorites right now. It is going to come down to all of my officials, and Alabama did a great job hosting me. I have Southern Miss (16th), Ole Miss (23rd) and Tennessee (30th) left for visits. The place I feel the most comfortable and the place that has the best academic situation is where I am going to wind up."

I would venture to say that Ole Miss has the better academics but not by much. I think we can provide a nice combination of academics/comfort level.

Crap, mised another cat fight. MF vs DM. Doesnt look I missed much. Petered out quick.

If you are talking about academics in general, Ole Miss certainly ranks near the bottom of the SEC if not the entire region. Students from middle/west TN who are not accepted to UT/UGA/Bama/Auburn usually end up at Ole Miss or Miss St. I would venture to say that our support program for athletes is much better than Ole Miss's as well, if the athletes choose to take full advantage of it.

Tennessee's 2008 average ACT for incoming freshmen was nearly 27, while Ole Miss's was around 23. 23 is where UT was about 8-10 years ago, before the implementation of the Hope scholarship. GPA/program rankings etc. reflect UT's superiority as well. Sorry, always have to stick up for academics at the ol' alma mater.

Oh...well don't get me wrong. I think UT is above and beyond when it comes to academics...I had no stats to back up my claim. It was more or less the impression I had gathered about Ole Miss. Furthermore I think UT gets no where near the recognition it deserves for it academic accomplishments.

i have a friend who got into ole miss with a 1.7 gpa so in what way does he mean academic standing. Who has better academics or who is closer to my academic level?

I like that we are his last visit! Hopefully we can really make and impression and we will be fresh on his mind going into signing day

Alabama has better academics for now. The hope will equal that out soon. But we are better than the others mentioned here. So we need to make him feel like he is at home. Anyone know what his favorite foods are? Bagel and Lox man maybe?

"It was a nice visit. I got up there with my mom and dad on Friday evening. We started off with a big meal Friday night and all of those meals I had over the weekend was definitely one of the highlights," said Patterson. "I had steak Friday night and you don't get meals like that at the Noxubee County cafeteria. Alabama treated all of the prospects first class. This was my first official visit but Alabama set the bar high. They treated us like kings."
"I didn't really even hang out with the Mississippi guys. I did a little bit, but I hung out with everyone," said Patterson. "I really got to know Star Jackson pretty well. He is a big-time quarterback and he told me that we could hook up in the future and make a lot of plays. My host was Javier Arenas. We didn't really even talk about football. It was mainly just talking about life and stuff like that. He was easy to talk to. Justin Woodall and I hung out too. He is a Mississippi boy too like me, but we just talked about family and friends more than football just like with Javier. Everyone went out of their way to make me feel welcomed.

"Coach Saban and I talked today and he told me basically they had an open competition at wide receiver other than Julio Jones. They need playmakers and they needed me real bad. I was impressed with everything he had to say. Coach Saban makes you feel pretty good about yourself but at the same time he expects his players to work hard and do their best."

Listen to Saban telling an out right lie. There's no way they're having an open competition for WR, other than Julio.

Thing is, Saban can say to a recruit with confidence, you have a chance to come in and see the field as a freshman here, because he has done it all over the field since he's been there.

UT also superscores the ACT while Ole Miss doesn't I believe.

Maze is pretty good, he's more of a slot reciever. B.J. Scott should be real good, but other than that they have a bunch of unproven guys.

Bj Scott will be a corner next year. He looked star struck out there. Maze will be real good. Really wished we had gotten him he's a pretty good athlete. Watched him play personally when he was in high school.
