Bruce Pearl and his staff have no credibility whatsoever. The accomplishments that they attained, though great, have now been completely overshadowed by this recent event. As an alum, it makes me sick to think about how he has disgraced our University, our Athletic department, and the athletes he has on this current team.

All of you that ***** and whine about Calipari can now shut up. The fact is, we were cheating and trying to cover it up. This makes Pearl no better than anything anyone has accused Cal of doing.

In my opinion, Pearl should be on very, very shaky ground. Any misstep now should result in his termination. And I wouldn't be too upset if he was terminated as a result of this. This is truly sickening and sad day for UT athletics.

Very well stated. I think the honorable thing would be for Pearl to step aside if Hamilton doesn't have the ***** to fire him. While he's at it, perhaps Hamilton should also step aside. Thanks to his decisions, both the basketball and football programs are now in shambles.

Surprise, surprise a Pearl hater calling out Pearl.

Last I checked, he at least owned up to it. When did the NCAA find out Pearl was lying? Sounds like when Pearl told them he mislead them.

Well, you're taking it a little too far. No one has to shut up about Calipari. Pearl lied about the number of phone calls made to recruits. How does he lose credibility because of that? This is just ignorant.

1. thanks for making another thread on the topic, your insight is much more valuable than everyone else's.

2. if you think that some garbage phone calls are the same as paying players then you're an idiot. The part in bold is a joke

If you believe Pearl volunteered this info because he was walking around campus and suddenly felt guilty you are very naive.

Yes it sucks we got caught. There is a huge difference between making extra phone calls and giving a kid cash and committing academic fraud. Yes Pearl screwed up, but your a loon if you think he should be fired over this.

So, he cheated and then tried to cover it up, but that doesn't cause someone to lose credibility? It's laughable you're calling someone else ignorant.

he didn't call you ignorant, but due to you getting your panties in a wad you misread what he said. he said your point was ignorant

Guess what? Pearl got punished for it too. He is getting 1.5 million less over the next 5 years. His assistants get a 1/4th of their salary taken away. Penalties assessed, nothing further is probably going to come out of it... move on.

Thanks for the insults, man. Classy. The fact is he lied and then tried to cover it up. Most likely, this little admission had nothing to do with his conscience and everything to do with him knowing he was going to be caught.

Pearl was contrite at the press conference and no one can doubt his sincerity. He showed his players and UT students and alumni how to handle adversity with class. Of course, antisemites will still bash Coach Pearl just like they have the whole time he's been here.

i agree with you on that, but to say that those phone calls are no better than paying players is ridiculous

As far as Cal goes, he deserves every bit of the crap he gets. He is about as sleazy as they come. Could anyone honestly say he's never made extras phone calls to recruits? It's laughable to think he hasn't.

Yea, when you lie and cheat you only gain credibility. You have every right to refer to others as ignorant, because ignorance is beyond your functioning level.

I bet you'll still be cheering for him to be successful this upcoming season.

You should take a stand and root against the basketball team since the head coach embarrasses you so much.
