If UT is forced to extend and give Pearl a raise because of Memphis's offer
(also from my tax dollars) I'd say they're bidding against each other

Both Athletic depts. are separate entities of the sinstitutions themselves and, thus, receive zero state funding. The institutions themselves, however, do.

UT's Athletic Department is funded solely on donations. No state funding is accepted. So, again, this discussion is ridiculous. Not sure about Memphis's Athletic Department. But the bulk of the money for the bball coaches' salrary is coming from the FedEx guy.
