Pearl's future

to me, Hamilton's creative representations of the truth and his lack of transparency are troubling ... I think they both should be gone for the way it's been handled ..

Apparently I don't understand. You don't think this is a big deal? What would it take for you to consider it a big deal? We are going to have some level of NCAA sanctions that will very likely include post-season bans. If that isn't a big deal, I'm not sure what would be a big deal. You don't think lying to the NCAA is a big deal. Just wait till this is over and see if you still feel the same way.

It will be a big deal when the results of his actions are serious. As of today, they are not. That could change, and it will be unfortunate if the punishment is serious over such a minor thing compared to what's going on (see hatvol96's thread about a new exposé book concerning CBB recruiting), but until then I'm not going to speculate further or act like he's Albert Means-ing guys out on the recruiting trail.

You don't know what is likely to happen. For all anyone knows the NCAA will accept the self imposed punishments. It is not a forgone conclusion that a post-season ban is coming. Again, you know nothing in that regard.

I don't know what the final decision of the NCAA will be. They probably don't know either, at this time. But to say we have a coach who had his contract terminated for unethical conduct and had his salary cut, as well as being banned from off campus recruiting, plus the negative press it creates for the university and basketball program is not serious is truly mind-boggling.

I dont think it is that big a deal, we were hardly in the post season till he got here. I may just be an uninformed fan, but all I know is that I didnt know that we had a mens basketball team till Pearl. And all you "FIRE PEARL" posters that act like he shot the pope are overreacting. If he does get fired, he will go elsewhere and win, we may get another winning coach, it hasnt worked so well for the football team, and it took a loooong time to get the winner we have. It would just be idiotic to fire him. You holier than thow people are annoying.

BVF is going to keep feeling confident that another hammer is going to be dropped after the NCAA is done with us and we have no ban and they are off dealing with real problems at schools that paid lots of $$$.

The point is, the UT fanbase is hypocritical as all hell.

Posts like this make me laugh. Why would you, being of such obvious high character, slum it with a bunch of bottom feeding sinners like the rest of us? Especially the ones with linebackeresque physiques.

Yeah, it's not like Don DeVoe made the NCAAs his first 5 years and an imbecile like Jerry Green went 4 for 4.

As stated in my previous post hat, I didnt know we had a mens bball team till Pearl, and I am pretty sure that most of the rest of america did either. I travel alot for work, and I see UT bball stuff all over the country. You have made it very clear through the many of your post I have read that you dont like pearl. I do though and to me, he is UT mens BBall

Don't kid yourselves. Bruce Pearl will be coaching somewhere as long as he wants, even after this situation. The taint is only in the eyes of those who would like to see the Vols regress to their old Buzz days for whatever reason. There have been several coaches who have done much worse things who had pretty good runs afterwards. Eddie Sutton comes to mind and currently there's Tim Floyd. Bruce will be coaching and winning somewhere, the question is, will UT allow themselves to be bullied, by the media and those who hate UT basketball, into terminating the most successful men's basketball coach they have ever had.

I'm more confident that this is serious and will result in substantial sanctions from the NCAA than you are confident that it is minor and little to nothing will result. Even if you were to be correct, which is doubtful based on your previous record, the publicity hit the basketball program and university has taken is serious enough.

If he is UT basketball for you, that is very unfortunate.

That's blatantly obvious from your posts. We've had other coaches that have enjoyed similar success as Pearl, so spare us the Bruce is UT garbage.

classic=calling out someone elses spelling on a message board due to the fact they cant figure out any other way to try and win their argument.

Yea, it's tough to win arguments with people who thought Tennessee began playing basketball in 2005.

first off, it is a figure of speech.

I knew we had it, just didnt care about it. We werent even on the radar. That has changed since Pearl and not just recently either

Did you ever think that just makes you another meaningless bandwagon fan like the Florida guys who just showed up with Spurrier? How badly did they fall without their God?

I guess Hat missed the zook years.

He also is making an awesome comparison if TN suddenly has unreal recruiting talent that is naturally built in to come play in Knoxville that we are all unaware of. Also if Pearl wins a national title before he leaves us for the NBA...
