I think we all know that there are still issues this defense needs to fix if we want to win championships, but we should still celebrate the good things and not just dwell on the bad. Truth is we have come a long way from where we used to be on that side of the ball. We still need to close the talent gap.

get ready to bitch about pass defense cause i suspect banks to try to control mizzou run game
Really hope Banks learned his lesson from Kentucky. Focusing on the run leaves our secondary extremely exposed. Leary looked like a top draft pick against our secondary.

We got to bring the pressure to stop Mizz passing (make Cook scared) and grab Schrader on the way. IMHO

At what point can we just have a positive post and message without the negativity? That's such a miserable way to live.
I didn’t take @ Rocky Top’s comment to be negative, just stating a fact. It’s great to see the rushing defense improve and make offenses become Jen dimensional. We just need better talent to improve secondary.

What's negative? If I was coaching against us, I would pass the ball a whole lot. Just a fact.
If the fans on here complained about the secondary after 1 or 2 bad games it would be one thing, but we are into year 2 of losing key games ( see South Carolina last years game ) because our offense can't overcome the points given up by our secondary. Maybe we are hoping Banks comes on here and reads these comments and stops playing 30 yards off the line giving easy 1st downs and TD's.. We should have beaten Bama and Florida I don't think our secondary talent is that much lower than the rest of the SEC, but players are not being put in position to win the games in one area that we whine about each week.

That's my only complaint about the defensive scheme - playing the corners too far off of WR's. I get not wanting to give up the big play, but by allowing all the underneath stuff you're negating the pass rush because the QB can get it out quick. That's how Leary killed us, by a million small cuts.

I would risk a couple of big plays in exchange for forcing the QB to hold it longer and give our pass rush a chance to get there more often. He is clearly protecting our corners with his scheme, but it allows way too many 3rd down conversions and keeps the defense on the field.

You are correct sir. Talent is there, coaching is not. Most needed change for Heupel to continue growing this program. He’s a smart guy. He’ll get it done.

Some seem uncomfortable with joy/positivity/ happiness. I would love to hang out with them on Christmas morning and listen to the critical review of each gift that was unwrapped. Hahahaa😁

The defense is massively improved this season against the run AND the pass. Look at our national rankings. Both were in the 30s last I saw...our passing defense was in the high 60s nationally last season. Out of about 130 FBS teams.

Yall Negas used to get under my skin many years ago...not anymore though. The Legions of the Miserable can stress and suffer in their delusions alone. I am gonna back CJH and his staff and the amazing job they have done on the Hill since arriving.

So it’s “exhausting” to accept consistent persistent mediocrity in our pass D?

Ok 🤷🏻‍♂️

It's exhausting having EVERY slight deficiency brought into EVERY thread.

We all know the passing D isnt great. Why comstantly point it out? There is zero point unless one is proud member of the Legions of the Miserable that Coach Johnny Majors talked about decades ago.

Last year they were 128th in passing yards allowed. This year 53rd. The only stats that matter to me are scoring offense and defense where UT is top 25 in both.
