Too much risk. The UK game really shouldn't have been close. It wouldn't have been if they had played them like A&M. A&M is far more talented. Similar QBs. You can't do it without putting winnable games at risk.Counter Point- what's our record when we decide to play a soft zone? Maybe the South Carolina game is the only loss but there could have been other things going on there.
I'm with you, though I'm not a fan of "Total Defense", as it leaves out way too many factors. We're 16th in the country in yards per play allowed; 2nd in the conference, .02 behind Georgia. Why?
The Vols are 21st in total defense.

IMO, Banks sporadically over/under estimates opponents or things about opponents. He did that with Ray Davis giving Leary all day to throw to wide open targets vs soft coverage.
People are down on our D but they're improved quite a bit. On top of that, we aren't going to sell out to stop the run against Mizzou like we did Kentucky. I expect cook to be running for his life.
I’m guessing a lot of the negativity comes from seeing this stat then realizing we lost against UF b/c we couldn’t run the ball or stop the run. The only P5 opponent that has rushed for fewer yards than us against UF is Vandy. The only P5 defense UF has rushed for more yards than against us is Vandy. At what point can we just have a positive post and message without the negativity? That's such a miserable way to live.
Man that is some serious cherry picking you just did.I’m guessing a lot of the negativity comes from seeing this stat then realizing we lost against UF b/c we couldn’t run the ball or stop the run. Utah, UK, & SCAR have held UF under 100 rushing yards. They ran for 183 against us.
UK, SCAR, UGA, & ARK have rushed for over 150 yards against UF. We only ran for 100 against them.
Against Bama we had two 4th & 1 runs that got stopped. We had one 4th & 1 run against UF that got stopped. If we are such a great running team, then why can’t we seem to get a rushing yard when we have to have it?
Some UT fans are tired of the team pumping their stats against mediocre teams while falling apart against our actual rivals.
Stats from rivalry games and big games matter a whole heck of a lot more than in other games. If Heupel doesn’t start realizing that then he won’t last very long here. I don’t know about you, but I don’t want UT’s ceiling to be the SEC’s version of Penn State.Man that is some serious cherry picking you just did.
Missouri CBS like to grabIf the refs actually CALL offensive holding and defensive PI against Mizzou we can and will beat them in their house. I think its really that simple.
Someone posted earlier we went 177mins straight in SEC games this season without a live ball penalty called against our opponents. 3mins shy of 3 ENTIRE GAMES. The holding against our DEs, triangle chokeholds, rear naked chokes etc has been so blatant that the SEC crews should have been suspended. Repeatedly. We wont beat Missouri and 4 or 5 officials after we hung 63 on them last season.
I think huepel understands that which is why he beat Florida and Alabama last year my guy.Stats from rivalry games and big games matter a whole heck of a lot more than in other games.
