Per Galilee- Nichols...

Would we have Trae as our best shooter?

Probably. Although Hubbs can light it up too, and if Jordy can be more consistent, he'll be a legitimate threat. If Stokes comes back, you aren't going to have any weaknesses on this team other than a 4th post (and you have A.J. Davis coming in who can play the 4, and UT can still recruit someone in the spring if they want). And you also have the possibility (although not great) that John Williams III (JW3, top 50 recruit) comes in and he can play the 4 also.

Galilee says he got a text. He didn't say the text said Nichols had informed the coaches. He said there would be a press conference on the 22nd. He did invite Rob Lewis to come to the press conference.

All indications point to him coming but I haven't seen some one close to the program such as Lewis ,Rucker or Quinn go public with that information. That should be the case even if they know.

Generally the VQ guys are quicker with bad news and go silent or speak in code if they have been told UT is going to get a commitment. ROB Lewis has not come with any thing that indicates he has changed his view that UT is in good shape.

Where does that put our class. Top 5 easily, right?

Not yet. I doubt we get top five unless Martin pulls a top 10 player we don't know about and I can't see any that we were in on unless CCM is being super, duper secret (and never, ever rule that out). But Davis and Landry, both solid prospects that will help the team, aren't even top 100 players, so that pulls the rankings down some.

Coach Martin is doing an outstanding job recruiting. If the Nichols rumor is true, and it seems it is, CCM is getting a good foothold in Memphis area and west Tn. I hope the football staff can start landing some of the top recruits as well.

Like I said. Now all we need to do is start putting wins together this season. The recruits will start coming. CCM is looking like he can recruit with any top school out there.

Sorry if this is the wrong place, or it's been asked and answered a million times, but how well do you think Nichols fits into Martin's style of play. Martin really requires great conditioning and defense, right?

Every coach wants great conditioning.

Austin is actually a very good shot blocker. He is very lengthy, has good timing, and can jump as well as a lot of big men in this class. Now, he's only about 210 right now. He needs to put on 20 pounds, but he has very good footwork and should be able to play very good D in his system.

Offensively, although he doesn't play like Jarnell in the post, he likes to play with his back to the basket. Jarnell uses great force, Austin is very quick and has great footwork in the post. He also has a nice mid range game and really plays well in transition.

CCM is answering the only legitimate question (whether he could recruit at the highest level) about his coaching abilities at this time. Hubbs and Nichols in one class, following getting Stokes, is huge. With CCM's coaching abilities, emphasis on hardnosed defense, etc., I believe he is building a program that can compete with the best teams in the country year in and year out including in the NCAA tournament. While I still appreciate Pearl for recruiting pretty well and making UT relevant nationally, I always felt there was a glass ceiling for the team in the tournament when UT would get matched up with a team like Louisville in 2008. The talent gap and deficient style of play were self-evident. I know Pearl was close with Ohio State in 2007 (great first half and meltdown in the second half) and Michigan State in 2009 (hard fought game against one of Izzo's worst teams) but the style of play coupled with the caliber of players UT is getting now seems more built to sustain a run against high level teams year in and year out. Hamilton got this one right and I am really excited about this year and the future years for the basketVols.

ZJC/BTO - where do we stand w/ JW3 right now? Longshot I assume?

Michigan State has picked up a lot of steam. Georgetown seems to be the favorite. But nobody knows. He's kept his recruitment absolutely on lock.

From some tweets I seen a couple weeks ago. Some said that Austin had gained more weight (muscle wise) Austin RT'd. So I wonder where he's at now.

Last I heard 6'8/210. Maybe he's 220 now. I'm not worried about his height at the collegiate level because he's a very good athlete and very rangy.

Very. Both Trae and Jordy will be seniors. Now you add Hubbs and Nichols and you got an incredible group. It depends on what Stokes does. If he stays, you have a legitimate top five team coming back. If not, you got a top 15-20 team. Also, the one thing UT doesn't have (if Stokes leaves) is the lack of a big man. But that's not a big issue right now.

McRae and Golden are Jrs this year right ?

This is awesome news. Coach Zo seems to be building something special at UT.

Yup. If Nichols commits, and Martin says he's done with the recruiting class, you got for 2013-2014:

PG- Golden/Moore/Landry
SG- Hubbs/Richardson
SF- McRae/Edwards/Reese/Chevious
PF- Nichols/Davis
C- Stokes/Makanjoula
