Per Jimmy Hyams this morning on 104.5 in Nashville

Dooley will not be fired! Those two games will have no affect in harts decision!

If Dooley finishes the season 7-5 having lost to every good team on the schedule then he should be let go. This team has more talent than that. In fact, if he loses the next two... an interim should finish the season while a search is conducted. If a new coach is named before the end of the season, they will have a much better chance of salvaging the '13 recruiting class.

I have pretty much argued with the negavols that Dooley should get his fair shot. Argued the same in favor of Fulmer. The program comes first... not "fairness" to the coach. DD has now gotten the fairest shot UT could afford without hurting the progress of the program. He needs a big win to prove he's the guy. Simple as that.

Unlike most here, my position hasn't changed since the UK loss. This is his year. He needs to beat someone in the top tier of the SEC. He's 0-2 with 2 to go. He has a good enough team to do it IF he can coach.

I have to agree with this 100%.

Agreed. Starting 3-5 then feasting on the dregs of the conference to get to 7-5 is not an accomplishment.

If it is at UT then we really will have reached a low.

We can't even feast on the bottom-feeders though. Honestly? If UT gets curb-stomped by Bama/USC I think the wheels come off and we could easily lose our next 3 games.

Troy will be a huge problem.

Mizzou and Vandy will both play hard and this team doesn't like playing opposition that actually fights back in the 2nd half.

You obviously never played competitive sports or otherwise you could not have written that nonsense. If the team and/or the supporters do not believe they can win why even play/cheer or practice? And if we do happen to lose after giving it our best shot (team and the fans both) then so be it (but it's ok to be upset about that too - makes you try harder next time until you manage to break through).

This is where the Dooley supporters are now: for them, a moral victory is the same as a victory. Anything closer than a 35-pt blowout to Bama or USC (e.g., a mere 30-pt blowout) will be hailed as a moral victory, a sign of great progress under Dooley, and a reason for Vol fans to hold their heads high. Sad. With each game under Dooley, Tennessee takes another step towards becoming Vandy. His supporters are leading the way.

So what happens if UT fires Dooley after the season and can't get a homerun hire and get someone like Kirby Smart or another unproven head coach? All I'm saying is that if they make the decision and remove Dooley they better make sure the coach they choose is proven or we are back to where we started after Fulmer.

It doesn't even matter who they hire. Have you looked at the schedule for next year? It's probably another 7-5 year regardless of who the coach is. Might as well save some money and the headache of having to defend your hire and let Dooley stay 1 more as long as he wins the last 4 this year.

This is a classic m.o. for underachievers. If you can't meet expectations, lower them.

I'm used to the standard at Tennessee that you are to win Championships. There are still some that hold true to that.

Those who have high expectations and those who have low expectations usually live up to them.

Dooley himself set the stage with the whole 'year zero' crap.

I hate him, but at least Lane Kiffin had the balls to expect that we'd win when we stepped out on the field.

Anything other than actual victory is a loss - I do not believe in moral victories at all. However I feel very strongly that it's ok to point out that if we losing much closer this year (last drives of games in 2 out of 3 we lost against ranked teams) that is a definite proof of progress compared to consistently getting blown out a year ago (there are other positive signs - o line Dooley recruited is playing great, and he has shown he can bring in top recruits like CP in spite of all the negativity negavols keep spitting out all the time). You seem to hate Dooley so much that you would rather not watch at all or even pull for us to lose just to prove your point.
What would you say if we win out all the rest of this year? Would you then admit Dooley is a long term solution? I am prepared to say I'm ok with Dooley getting fired after one of his recruiting classes is done (4 years is a minimum anyone should get given the mess we had here).

If Vols don't win at least 7, Dooley is gone. Worst case scenario, is that he'll get one more year if UT wins 7. Can we beat Vandy? If we lose to Vandy, he's definitely gone!

I can agree that if Dooley loses to Vandy or Kentucky he should be fired at the end of this year (that would cost him the final year I would be willing to give him otherwise).

This has to be one of the stupidest things I have read. So in order to keep his job he must beat teams that no one thinks they have a snowballs chance in hell of beating. That makes a ton of sense. Why is steady improvement not enough? Last year the vols could not stay in game for more than 2 quarters, this year they are competing to the bitter end against top ranked teams. You have to give the guy a full recruiting class to if he is worthy or not. You can't let him recruit HIS players then bounce him after there 2nd year. That irrisponsible on the ADs part and could really set the program back.
He's had 3 years, and please don't come back with any of that year zero BS.

I haven't seen the Vols play with the effort under Dooley as they did for a less talented Kiffin squad...aparently he is just not a great motivator. I hope this Saturday against #1 ranked Alabama will be different!

hymans is almost always right. It's because he's so unbiased that he sees through the bs. He called that da'rick wasn't gonna make it, and it happened like a week later.

WRONG my friend.

CDD has has 2 1/2 years because we still have 1/2 a season to play.

You're also WRONG about the recruiting because CDD has brought ONLY 2 of HIS recruiting classes that are in school and on the team.

Be realistic and LOOK at how pathetically few Vols are in the NFL over the last few years and then LOOK at how many future NFL players that CDD has brought in since he's been here and by that standard we ARE much better on the player roster but NOT stacked up on a 2 deep gameday roster with future NFL players like all the top SEC teams are...YET!

The ONLY person that will decide if CDD leaves or stays is AD Hart and he did a good interview that ALL UT fans should read and LEARN from at Alabama Local News, Breaking News, Sports & Weather - al.com

Questions for AD Hard to decide on...

1...Will the big $$$ boosters give UT the $20 Million it will take to fire CDD and staff and to hire a big named, winning coach that can also recruit as well as CDD can?

2...Does AD Hart already have that big named coach ready to sign a contract and take over rebuilding for another 3 or 4 years knowing the teams UT has to Play for the next few years?

3...Since UT is basically broke and we need at least 1 new building to get built as soon as we can for our players is the projected revenue still in the black or are we really losing money and in the red?

4...Does AD Hart see enough progress being made on the player roster to feel confident that we'll be able to compete with the best in the SEC in another year or 2 with CDD running things?

5...Does AD Hart have confidence in CDD and CSS to have our new 3-4 D past most hurdles and ready to play well by next season?

6...IF, and a huge IF, the big $$$ boosters are willing to commit the $20 Million then is AD Hart ready to put his reputation and his job on the line and does he have the big names coach ready to sign the contract to the point that Hart is ready to pull the trigger very soon and risk his own job or will he tell the boosters to save their money for 1 more year and evaluate things by game 8 or so next season.

7...Does AD Hart like what he sees already commited to our next recruiting class and like the kids CDD is still working on to fill position needs and have a good recruiting class or is AD Hart willing to risk getting a lousy recruiting class AND maybe losing alot of our current players and setting our football program BACK another 3, 4 or more years?

Getting rid of CDD is actually a HUGE gamble and unless every part of this falls into place then firing CDD after this season is actually a very dumb move by AD Hart.

$$$ is an important factor but if AD Hart sees that we ARE still in the PROFIT position for this year and next year then some of the valid reason to let CDD go is removed because UT badly needs money and we must have a new on campus dorm building for our players ASAP.

I wish everybody would get a clue! Dooley will be are coach next year period. At 5.3 Mill. buy out UT is not goining to fire him that is the bottom line. So get behind the team and support them or find another team.

nah man...5.3 million is not that much money.

A booster does not have to give Hart/UT anywhere near 20 million dollars. Would it help if a booster covered the 1st few months payments? Sure it would. Maybe 1 million dollars would put us in shape to make the move to another coach. Once a proven coach is hired, the extra money brought in via ticket sales and support of the fanbase who has given up on Dooley would cover the future monthly payments. Merchandise sales, and revenue aquired through alot of other areas will take place as fans will have HOPE again. Alot of fans like myself, just can't support a losing coach. The BS talk of 20 million dollars is just another fabricated number come up with by Doolites looking for a reason to allow UT football to fall further behind in the SEC. Make the change Hart. Give these kids a chance to win.
