Per sources, some guys played last night knowing they were leaving

Knowing they were leaving after the season ends. Some even have deals with other schools already set.

Todays CFB really is screwed up

But that's what some people wanted. And they'll be in here laughing and "PAY MORE" and "LULZ THE PLAYERS HAVE NEVER CARED" doing a little jig the whole time.

Who knows. Maybe it's true, maybe it isn't. But I don't think we'd be surprised to find out it's true.

I don't know if any of this is true or not. But after watching last night, I can't agree with your statement. If they already have deals with new teams, then just go. Don't stick it out because anyone in that position is not going to give their all. It'd be worse than quitting on the team before a playoff game. It'd be borderline sabatoging your teammates that actually want to play.
It's a tough spot. Fans are not happy with guys like Nimrod for leaving before the playoffs, then they're not happy with guys who finish out the year knowing they'll hit the portal also.

In the business world people often have a job lined up with a new employer while still working out a notice or training/transitioning an employee to replace them. It's not unheard of at all.

The bad thing is I don't hear a lot of possible solutions being offered by NCAA or any other outlet that can remedy this. Maybe just offer every player a base salary so they are at least not being left off the payroll.
The NCAA fined Ohio St and Michigan $100k each for the melee that happened at the end of their game. Where does that money go ?

But everybody said pay the players. Isn’t it awesome?
The courts said the NCAA cannot prevent/deny student athletes from making money from their name, image or likeness. Problem is it just flung the gates wide open to the Wild West and these multimillion dollar collectives. There’s going to have to be some guardrails implemented within these contracts and NIL rules to tighten thing up. What that looks like is anyone’s guess. Genie is out of the bottle and the NCAA got neutered to where they’re probably not sure what their role in all this is now.

kinda seems like there has been some discontent on the team this year.
I don’t know about discontent but it certainly could be a factor in the lack of fire last night. There was a substantial difference in the excitement level between the two teams which is weird considering the opportunity. Hard to pinpoint but something looked off last night with the entire team. Just didn’t see the fire that I expected.

Really doesn’t matter what people wanted. The players wanted it and got it. The fans are just collateral damage now.

Come on now I'm sure it's harder now then before but let's not act like these coaches around the country are not well compensated.
It's great work if you can get it and Sexton makes dang sure of it but I'm sure it's ridiculously stressful.

Look at Saban on TV now vs Saban when he was coaching. He's obviously much less stressed.

It's not about what was wanted. It's about what is right. It was never right these guys weren't allowed to make money off of who they were. The NCAA didn't own them. It's the AAs fault of how its been handled...of hasn't been handled. Theirs and title IX because let's face it, as soon as the schools are paying these athletes every sport under the sun is going to want a piece of that pie.

And given the pavia injunction, it's clear the AA has no clue how to effectively argue it's positions in court.

This is what fans chirped about when players couldn’t survive on debt free education, paid room & board, nutrition program, weight
program and $1000’s of clothing gear to start.
There were issues. A player on an athletic scholarship was banned from working a part time job. At the same time schools are selling apparel that sells because it has a specific player's number on it. They still could have come up with a better plan. The NCAA also knew adjudication was going to go in the players' favor in this matter

It was the Supreme Court of The United States of America who made the NCAA open up NIL, not the voices of the fans.

They also pointed directly to Congress as the only ones who could fix the situation. Happy, happy, joy, joy...... that's who can fix it.

I don't think many of you understand, these guys are competitors. Looking for the next NIL deal has nothing to do with the way the team performed. These guys want to win when they lace them up. Preparation and the inability to strategize to account for our weaknesses may have been more of a factor than guys checking put. What some of you are describing are effeminate personalities. It might exist more in society or that might be some of your personalities but it's not on the field generally.
I disagree a bit. I think we all like to believe that they’re all about winning, but I think the main driving force is money. It’s that way for most everyone, whether a collegiate or professional. Not a slam towards the player, but I just think that’s it. I truly believe that the athletes would leave a contender for anyone, if the money was right. Just the way of the world.

Not sure there is anything to fix. I mean, society generally doesn't allow this. Not sure even Congress could "fix" this to be honest, they certainly can mess it up worse.

Winning and money go hand in hand.

Oh yeah, that’s the ticket! Let the US Congress, no matter who is in control, try to fix this thing.

Those jokers couldn’t find their way out of a wet paper bag. I’m sure they will be able to fix this mess.
