Pete Carroll wanting to prove himself in the SEC (extreme pipe dream) (merged)

Why would Pete Carroll come to an SEC school? He dominates in the Pus-10. He does not want none of this.

2. Best Woman BBall Coach = Summit
Best Men's BBall Coach = Pearl I imagine coaches K, Knight, Williams (of the Roy variety), Self, Calhoun, Boeheim, etc. would have a little bit to say about that.
Best Men's FBall Coach = CarrollBest at sealing the deal when selling Southern California to blue chip recruits, yes. However, winning 1 BCS NC with Leinart, Bush, White, and Williams is not exactly the most impressive of feats.
:good!:

ok so my brother gets his haircut from a guy who once bought a tractor from a friend who owns a car that was rented from an immigrant who is the son of a mexican national, who once played golf with the Sultan of U.A.E., who then is friends with a guy who is the intern at the athletic department, WHO SAYS, Pete Carroll has a 51-6 record in the last 5 years, and this is another waste of a post.

Don't people understand if you have an idea or would like something to happen you don't have to blame your uncle's cousin's brother's boyfriend.

I live in northern CA. The only Pete Carroll talk going on out here is his possible interest in the San Francisco job.

Pete Carroll loves the west coast - doubtful he moves anywhere that takes him east of California.

I'm surprised you're not hearing more about the Chargers going after him. Surely he'd consider going there after Norv Turner ends up fired this season.

Update: I actually asked my friend who his source was. He said it was a good friend's uncle who knew someone at UT-- the uncle told my friend yesterday that there would be a press conference today about Fulmer. The Same Source also said that a single booster is paying off fulmer so the AD can go after Carroll...so maybe there is more merit to the story than we originally gave it...
when's the contract signing so I can be there for it?

Pete Carroll is actually from San Francisco - has many freinds and family still there, and he still maintains a residence there.

If both SD and SF are open at the end of his season, speculation is that he'll move north to SF, or even Oakland - if he makes a move at all. Those close to him say he'll not make a move to another college job.

I heard from a work associate that Pete Carroll has expressed interest in coaching at Tennessee so he could prove he has what it takes to win in the SEC-- thoughts?

I'm skeptical.

Granted, if he did come to UT, I'd go beserk.

chances are that guy got this rumor several weeks ago from volnation. We had a similar thread about possibility of Pete Carrol coming to UT

I know that Pete Carrol dominates California in recruiting but I believe he could recruit anywhere in the nation. Especially here at Tenn. I mean USC wasn't dominate until he came there.( except when OJ was there)

We should go for him. Pay him 5 mill a year and lets get back to dominating the SEC.

But in reality I believe Will Muschamp is the guy we should go after. He has been under Saban, Tuberville, and now Mack Brown. All quality coaches.

Either way with the move of Fulmer leaving has gotten the spotlight back where it should be on Ol' Rocky Top.

I feel bad for all the Richmond coaches who left there job for us and wish them the best!

I put more credence in the Gruden rumor than I do the Pete rumor. The CPC rumor just doesn't "feel" right.

I heard someone on a cell phone on a bus talking to a friend who is a waiter at a restaurant in Indianapolis say that he was serving a group of people and one of them said that he heard from a janitor at the Colts stadium that Peyton was telling some guys in the shower after the game yesterday that he was thinking about quitting the Colts to become the HC at UT.

Pretty credible source if you ask me...

Here is a few reasons that Pete Carroll might be interested in Tennessee.
1. He wanted an extension last year and they didn't give it to him.
2. USC doesn't even have their own stadium.
3. USC doesn't have their own practice field, and their facilities does't even come close to Tennessee's.
4. Tennessee is in a better conference, so that means they could get more BCS attention.
5. Tennessee has way better fans, and more money than USC. If Hamilton really wanted him, he can fork out the money.
6. He recruits in the Pac-10. Imagine what he could do in the SEC.
7. Carroll has a very close friend in Nashville (Jeff Fisher) and they spend alot of time together.
These are just a few thoughts on my part. What do you think?

I think that I read somewhere that Southern Cal opened up the checkbook at one point and tried to hire Neyland away from Tennessee. They obviously weren't successful, and I doubt a reversal of the scenario would work for Tennessee today.

1. Pete get's whatever money he wants. He just needs to ask. This is commonly known.

2. The coliseum is on campus and only USC plays there. how is that not his own stadium?

3. THey are spending something like $100 mil on facilities

4. Yes SC is surely lacking BCS attention

5. SC has an ungodly amount of money

6. Tenn has no recruiting base, SC has the best in the country.

7. So?

you might be right about most of that, but #4 is rough. He's got the best team in the country this year, will have one loss and, if SC and UF win out, he'll be sitting home for the NC game.

I'll believe it when i see it. The past 2 years he's in the NC game if he only has one loss.
