Petrino is gone

Only that payment was made days BEFORE her hiring.

I didn't see the entire thing, so I may have missed this, but toward the end he declined to discuss the time frame of the relationship/payment, suggesting it had gone on for a while.

Absolutely priceless, the first commercial after sports center talks about petrino was for Gieco motorcycle insurance!!!!!!!!!!

He'll end up out west where people don't care about football or a bike wreck.

Hmmm...

Utah?

- Doesn't care about bike wrecks. Do they even have paved roads? check
- Care about football? Only if it makes money for the local choir group. check
- Bonus: doesn't frown on multiple wives. check

Yup, I say Utah.

I'd say he most likely gets a coordinator job by next season's end. Nobody will touch him, ahem, for a head coaching job now. Wouldn't be surprised if an NFL team hired him as a coordinator before next season, but you know the Falcons will be on the horn a la Al Davis saying he will betray you and destroy your team. Will be interesting to see play out.

He has screwed his NFL chances away, with what he did in Atlanta. Those players from Atlanta are all over the league now. No way in hell they would be coached by that "man" after what he did.

Petrino is already on his way out of fayetteville.

It's more "no way an NFL team would offer him another chance after he bolted from the team that hired him after less than one season"

Bruce Pearl and Bobby Petrino fired after SEC issues statement to boycott BP.
Spokeman from the SEC: "Wait...you meant the oil company?!?!"

I really can't believe people were surprised he got let go after what we've seen in Knoxville and Columbus, Ohio.

Agreed. All this credit being given to Long is absurd. There was no tough decision made here.

Long made the right decision. Period. That's something to be proud of. Upon hearing about the 20k, this seems like more of a no-brainer. Neither you nor I knew about the 20k two hours ago. Relax.

So if you have one player from that Falcons team on your roster who refuses to play for him, you wouldn't even consider it? Seems a little far fetched. What he did was cowardly and unprofessional but the man can call a hell of a game offensively. It would have to be one hell of a player to hold up the entire deal. Probably only a handful of players in the league have that type of approval power.
