Peyton Manning Reportedly Out Indefinitely

With the Colts makeshift/new OL, I just can't see Collins lasting the whole season. Teams will blitz like crazy knowing Collins isn't very mobile and the Colts can't run the ball. If Collins goes down and Painter has to play, there isn't a floor on how bad the offense could be.

Collins is ok, he is way better than Painter. If Painter has to take over then you are right. I hope for a terrible season. If for no other reason, how much fun would it be to see Titans fans squirm if we drafted Luck. Peyton is the best and most valuable player in the league but he is not winning 10-14 games every year all by himself. When we won the Super Bowl remember the D really led that playoff run.

No kidding. Good for Peyton for getting that money, but that contract is going to hurt Indy for awhile. Peyton could still come back and play at a high level again, but if he doesn't, that's really going to hinder them. I think only the first three years are guaranteed, though.

Regardless, I hope this isn't the end. In fact, I don't believe it is. I believe he'll play again.

He will, maybe not this season but he will be back.

I can't stand Peyton Manning, but I would hate to see his career end like this. I agree with you, I think he'll still have something left.

@mortreport Chris Mortensen said:
Manning actually just got out of surgery. No plans for injured reserve as doctors monitor fusion result, per sources.

They should put him on IR, it's over for this season. They pulled this crap with Sanders they kept him active all year and everyone knew he would not play

The Titans will welcome all you front running Colts fans now that your team is about to go 2-14.

Kick me while I'm down. I don't mind. If we're frontrunners, we're not going with the Titans for probably a long time.

I'd be quite content to see Manning's career end right here and stop seeing all these damn bandwagon Colts fans in Tennessee.

Hey, if you see a bathroom door marked "gentlemen", pay no heed. Go right in. There's no bathroom marked for "scoundrels".

It's also very comical to me that I frequent a TENNESSEE VOLS message board and get called a front-runner. Our collective favorite team in all of sports has had like 2 decent seasons in the last 6. I'd say none of us are really frontrunners.

Positive spin:

Sit Manning this whole season, let him heal fully.

Get a higher draft pick than we are used to, even if it's not Luck maybe Landry Jones or Alshon Jeffrey or Justin Blackmon.
We would have a easier schedule next season if we don't win the division.

when your only way to win anything is to hope for your opponents to get injured it may be time to step back and reevaluate

I see where you're coming from but this might be a little extreme. Nothing gets me more mad them the stupid bandwagon Colts fans that love that team ONLY for Peyton, but I wish nothing upon Peyton as a person at all. Great player and he has had a great career and I hope that career is not stopped by this

VFJ honestly thinks:

Colts with Kerry Collins: 8-8 division champions
Healthy Titans: 5-11

This is going to be so much fun to revisit in a few months.

I wish none of that junk on anyone, but, as a Titans fan, it's something to look forward to, no?

Nothing gets you madder than that? First, that's weird. Second, you're a Falcons fan, so why care about the AFC? Third, what's so detestable about rooting for players over teams?

My theory is that the connection to a team is much stronger than a connection to a specific player. Could be a numbers/volume thing maybe. I'd say that a Titans fan is more passionate about the Titans than a Manning fans is about the Colts.

I don't have a problem with Peyton's fans jumping on the bandwagon. I do have a problem with Peyton's fans gloating about him 24/7 like he's the greatest thing in the history of sports. That gets old.
