Peyton May lose yardage record...(update: he won't!)

It appears, as I warned about on Sunday, that Peyton could lose the yardage record on further review. The NFL always reviews film after each game to verify statistics and it appears the media has already caught one play previously called a forward pass which was really a lateral, potentially taking 7 yards from his total. This misfortune is totally on Coach John Fox, for pulling Peyton for the 2nd Half. I know to some this is trivial and that winning the last game is everyone's goal but this is really a shame. I hope this does not occur but it is a real possibility. :cray:

Another doom and gloom battered fan. Some could fall in a barrel full of p---- and come up with a d---! lmfao!

Peyton always has been and always will be my favorite player. Go to the NFL page on ESPN.com and check it out. This is not some half-ass diatribe. My last sentence even says I hope this doesn't happen.
Just don't be surprised I'd it does.

It is being reviewed as a backwards pass. If you watch Sports Center this morning, you will see the play.

I don't understand. He threw the pass forward!! Not a pitch, not underhanded. How is that pass any different than a screen pass to the RB??

Apparently there are two camera angles they are looking at which conflict each other, which means somebody has to make a ruling on it. When you add human judgement to the equation, you never know for sure what will happen. Based on what I saw, I am at least a little concerned.

This is the 1st I'm hearing of this and after watching the play I can see how it could be a lateral. I don't think it will be overturned, though.

Looks like Strahan will lose his sack record too because we all know Favre laid down...
BS if they overturn Peyton's record.

Peyton's pass can't be much more close to call than this one. Surely you guys remember this happening, and the NFL took it to computer-generated graphics to "prove" that it was indeed a lateral [or] backwards pass:

I don't think they overturn this. Petyon = GOAT.

It was ruled a pass on the filed he would have killed the recorded if he played half of the 3rd q so just give it to him every ones knows he beat it

Just read article on ESPN.com. How stupid is this? On one hand they say it looked like Decker has behind the line of scrimmage on that play but when they looked at an overhead angle that Decker appears to be behind it.....shouldn't that overhead angle be definitive and put this to rest? If so, why is this still a story?

Hopefully there is enough doubt to leave the play as is. It would be a shame for him to lose the record on a technicality when he had an opportunity to secure it for sure in the second half.

I'm sure deep down Peyton wants this to stick! And I definitely don't want Brees on the top of that list.

Let's blame this on the Raiders for sucking so bad he didn't have to play in the second half :p

Should've played at least the 3rd qtr IMO.

This theory of resting your players the last game of the year after they've clinched a playoff spot doesn't seem to do the team much good. Guess the players like the rest but it seems it takes the team out of rhythm more often than not after being off 2 weeks given the Bye week the following week.

See the pictures. It's the direction the ball travels relative to the line of scrimmage, not so much the way it's thrown by the ball carrier.

I didn't have a problem with him sitting the second half when they had secured the victory. But it's gonna totally suck if he loses the record as a result.

I agree resting all of your starters for a whole game is silly. This has backfired many times.. It's a tough call though, it would suck if you lost your starting QB in a meaningless game. Guess that's why they pay the HC millions a year to make these decisions :)

Kinda bs for them to do that since he only played one half.. he would have played more if needed. Could have beaten the record by about 100+
