Peyton May lose yardage record...(update: he won't!)

To anyone saying "He'd rather have a ring" I think you're missing something obvious. He HAD the record. He does not in any way have a ring. They aren't even the best team in the NFL right now (That's Seattle).

Anyone who thinks he doesn't care about this record is a fool. Publicly he'll say what is appropriate. Privately? Every real competitor wants to be the best. If I'm a head coach and you tell me "One of your players can make history and you'll lose the game, but it won't effect playoff seeding" or "You win the game" then guess what? I'm putting my guy in the history books.

No excuse for him to not play the third quarter and beat the record definitively instead of barely. And they should've seen something like this coming after the "Touchdown that broke the record shouldn't have been a touchdown" was run for a week. Entirely on the head coach. If you can beat a record like that, you make damn sure you give the next guy no chance to catch you if you can.

In todays pass happy and offense oriented NFL, it would not hold up for too many years IMO. PM is still one of the top 5 QB's of ALL time in NFL history, IMO.

It appears, as I warned about on Sunday, that Peyton could lose the yardage record on further review. The NFL always reviews film after each game to verify statistics and it appears the media has already caught one play previously called a forward pass which was really a lateral, potentially taking 7 yards from his total. This misfortune is totally on Coach John Fox, for pulling Peyton for the 2nd Half. I know to some this is trivial and that winning the last game is everyone's goal but this is really a shame. I hope this does not occur but it is a real possibility. :cray:

So what. What if Coach John Fox played Peyton in the second half. For a couple series. And Peyton would of got hurt and missed the playoffs. If Peyton is all he says he is, he is not worried about the record and more about winning a Super Bowl. :hi:

Peyton should give up this record as soon as Woodson gives up his heisman

Disappointing. I told my wife on Sunday, "He should throw a couple more...that one yard may not hold up." Wasn't expecting losing 7 though.

I agree

Not going to happen. Just like all questionable calls, there is not enough evidence to overturn anything. No worries. Peyton owns the record.

Peyton always has been and always will be my favorite player. Go to the NFL page on ESPN.com and check it out. This is not some half-ass diatribe. My last sentence even says I hope this doesn't happen.
Just don't be surprised I'd it does.
You sir, are now officially an idiot
.

What kind of gibberish is that Einstein, lmfao!!!:crazy:

Don't drink and insult, really leaves yourself open! :the_finger:

While they are at it they should put Kansas City and San Diego back on the field for one more field goal attempt. That cost Pittsburgh a playoff spot. They can say it was a pass or a lateral but I do not believe they will change anything. They might say they made a mistake but that is about it.

I was surprised that Fox didn't give Peyton a series in the 3rd before sitting him. Why cut it so close? Of course it matters. Peyton earned the right to have his name in the record book, and it should be there.

First they question the TD and now this. After all the piss-poor officiating in the league this year, they need to let it go and move on.

I want this record to stick just as much as anybody, but given the video from the gif a couple pages ago, how could anybody honestly argue that that was a forward pass? It was clearly backwards from where it left his hand to where decker caught the ball

Too many angles and interpretations...inconclusive...it's easy to argue either way...on with football :pilot:
