Peyton's Status in Indy

If Peyton doesn't return to the Colts, I will predict he goes to.....the Minnesota Vikings.

No way another team pays his signing bonus. Released or retired only options here.

What signing bonus? Peyton is currently under contract. If he is released before the 28,000,000 roster bonus, another team will sign him, if in fact, he is healthy. Signing a new contract with another likely won't result in a huge signing bonus.

I am a Colts fan because of Manning.

Without Peyton, I could care less about the Colts, probably like a heck of alot of Colts/Peyton fans.

Irsay may find that out the hard way. JMO

The Colts are a long time NFL franchise that claimed championships long before Peyton ever saw the light of day. Sure, it will hurt a little at first if Peyton leaves, but to suggest it will be a hardship to Irsay is ridiculous.

I wonder if Peyton holds a grudge with ESPN/ABC for their coverage of Charles Woodsen in 97. Peyton to the Chiefs. That division is one of the weakest in the NFL and Peyton and Berry can beat up on Tebow twice a year.

:birgits_giggle:

Trust me when I tell you that Peyton is much more mature than the faction of our fanbase that still can't get over this. It's 99.9999999999999999999% likely that Peyton has never had a grudge towards ESPN/ABC since they don't control the Heisman vote plus the fact that just he knows better than the dumbos in our fanbase.

giving him that 28 mill would be the worst thing they could do imo gotta take luck and move on that sucks for peyton but he can find another team and play another 3 yrs if he wants or rob lowe was right all along :eek:lol:

Irsay called Peyton a "Politican" for his comments yesterday from the Indy Star newspaper.

The (MADTWEETER) better hope he doesnt see him next year if his neck get to where it needs to be. Wouldn't mind seeing him in the division like you know Tennessee:wink2:

Peyton will play again, but not for the Colts.

He's done way too much for that franchise to be treated as an outsider by Irsay, who made hundreds of millions from Peyton's devotion to the Colts. He's such a pompous prick to say "it's not about the money."

Peyton only has a few more years to play, but I really would like to see him on a team that surrounds him with talent... that would not be a 2-14 team that has failed to replinish the offensive talent they needed to win more championships over the past few years.

Arizona and Washington are the frontrunners in my best estimate as it sounds like the Jets are stupid enough to believe that Sanchez can play the position. I had hoped they'd be honest with themselves on that and go ahead and win a SuperBowl or two with Peyton. But, it seems Rex has said that BS about Sanchez so much that he now believes it. If the Jets come back to reality, they could compete with the Giants. As is, they're short a QB who can play at that level.

Really?
What was the Colts record last year with Peyton?
What was their record this year with virtually the same team?
Might hurt a little?

The Colts were exactly what they were this past year before they got Peyton.

They won when they had Unitas. Otherwise, same crappy history.

They won't win again until the next Manning or Unitas like hero comes along. Hint: it's not about Luck and it may never happen again for an organization as stupid as the Colts. I hope he leaves and I've pulled for the Colts since he showed up. Good riddance to idiots in Indy who are stupid enough to not recognize they only had one player, before this season. They only have one position that doesn't need filling. It's the other 21 or so positions that you should question, minus Freeney, perhaps (not worried about an overworked punter or proven kicker/holder/snapper).

Manning is done in Indy and I fully believe he will retire a Clot.Manning has been paid an awful lot of money by Irsay during his career. He needs to keep his mouth shut and let Irsay run his business as he sees fit. It is Irsays team and the Clots are not all about Peyton Manning.

If they release Manning and draft Luck after hiring a defensive minded coach then they will be in serious trouble. Manning has been as loyal to that team as anyone has to any other team especially in todays NFL!

Exactly, he took less money so they could retain better players.

Irsay has been babbling to the media for weeks, only to come out and fire his GM and coach. Peyton simply states what we all would assume to be characteristic of an 2-14 team firing everyone from the GM down... that is, that the atmosphere in Indy sux, and Irsay acts like Peyton is his b*** and tells him to keep it in the family.

Irsay basically wants to say... if we don't keep Peyton, it's because he's not healthy enough to play, so nobody else would want him either. FOOL!

That's BS.

Tell him to take a hike Peyton. You've been too kind to a jerk wad who thinks his money buys him the right to silence a player while spending his time trying to devalue that player's market value through the same media you're free to use.

I wish he would go to the Titans. If I were a player and could pick my school I would go to Houston and beat up on the Colts. I think if he were to go to the Titans they would also be pretty dominant as well though.

tbh I hope they screw Manning. I need a reason to jump off the Colts bandwagon. Go Titans!

If we hadn't drafted Locker and brought Hasselbeck in, I would agree with that. But we are pretty settled at QB and there are plenty of teams that are not. Miami would make the most sense to me. I think he could make them a playoff team right off the bat. Dallas should trade Romo away in order to bring Peyton in. That would be a nasty team with Peyton under center. Same could be done in San Fran. Trade Alex Smith, now that he's shown he can win some games...but not necessarily shown that he is a franchise QB.

I think Indy will cut Peyton regardless, to avoid the $28mill bonus in March. But let's be honest. Peyton should be done talking about football. If it were an ACL tear or something, that's one thing. But talking about nerve damage in his neck? Are you freaking kidding me? Why chance it? He made enough this past year to live comfortably for the rest of his life. Time to ride off into the sunset.

Manning did a lot for Irsay and Polian. His time in Indy is over. He'll either take a 3 year job in Miami or a 2 year job in Nashville. The only other possibility is if Jones decides to pay for him and trade Romo to Miami. Dallas will be the best $ but a tough situation for him. I think Miami is a standout favorite. If his neck is not OK, he's just going to retire as a hero in Indy and let Irsay swing from the tree.

Someone can be a instant success with manning if he can play. His group of targets are all free agents.A team could get him Wayne and Clark not to mention garcon.I wish I were a gm I would for sure go pay them if he can still play. And I think he would take a pay cut at a team to help whatever team get his players.

Would be crazy if the dolphins did it.Would be just like the heat in a lot of ways .I think garcon is the only one that wouldn't go to that team.Think of it Manning Wayne Clark bush Marshall .They would be a favorite to win atleast that division. The pats have a hard time with the dolphins anyway.Would even get a better Brady manning rivalry.

Peyton should have kept his mouth shut, he has talked many times about when there are issues to keep them in house and not talk to the media.

Irsay had money before Peyton and let's not act like Peyton has not got loaded during his time in Indy. Peyton has done great things in Indy and I hope he goes to a team where he can win at least 1 more SB, he deserves it.

The Colts will struggle for the near future without Peyton but drafting Luck and hiring a Def minded coach, in time they will be just fine.

It takes a lot of time to get the remaining pieces of a team that is treating their best player like absolute sh*t after a 2-14 season just indicated that they can't win without him.

I hate to say it, but if the Colts toss Manning, they won't be relevant for another ten years.
