Phil Fulmer to (fill in the blank) thread...merged

Is this a joke?[/

Why would you think this is a joke?

He has been mentioned on this board for about every HC opening this year: VA, Louisville, Memphis, Fl, Texas Tech, Boston College , Cincy and a few more, why not throw Lambuth out there.

Lambuth is different from all the other schools he has been mentioned for, they might actually consider him.

Agree...It would be a good way for CPF to cure his coaching itch, teach the game to overlooked players and wind down a pretty good career. Lambuth put JoJo Jones on the Chargers and Ron Dixson on the Giants so they have some diamonds in the rough.

I think the perfect job for CPF would be UNC Charlotte. They are just beginning to start a football team. He would be starting a team from scratch. They need fundraising, they are going to build a stadium. This would be his to build from the ground up.

Kennesaw State is too. His ole buddy Vince Dooley is the "advisor" to the program.

Why? Why would he interview with Lambuth? It doesn't make sense

Seriously, You dont go from making the kinda money he was making at a D1 University and winning a NC to coaching at Lambuth.

You guys talk like he had a 0-12 season.

he was still a 74% winner. Im no Phil Homer but come on I got to have respect for the guy even if our program started sliding.

for fulmers sake i hope this really is a joke.

The real joke is Fulmer and his Fulmerites thinking he would end up coaching at a major university in 2010.

Fulmer has a great overall record as a coach, very impressive. The last few years have been bad. Not only has his teams lost to the upper tier teams, they have not been competitive.

Why would any major college wanting to improve their program be interested in hiring someone that has not been able to compete against good teams the last several years?

That's not terribly far fetched as GA State started a football program this past year and Bill Curry is the HC with Dan Reeves consulting.

If Fulmer is so in love with 'coaching' as he claims than something like this is a perfect opportunity for pure coaching and building a program from scratch without the pressure and headaches of trying to meet out sized expectations of a mid level D1 school. He wouldn't get rich but he would supplement his nice retirement account and would also get him out of Vicky's hair.

Something like this is probably the most realistic opportunity for Fulmer if he's truly interested in a 'coaching' job versus a glamorous and high paying major program job which he's probably not going to get.

Seriously, everyone knows Fulmer is not going to Lambuth just like everyone should have known he wasn't going to Notre Dame.

look, the guy's pushing 60 years old, if he plans on going somewhere big it's not happening. His best days are behind him and everyone in the college football world knows that. His best bet to be successful and maintain a job would be to go to a respectable D-2 school. But he's stubborn, everyone knows he simply doesn't have it anymore except him. I wish him the best, and thank him for the memories, but really....enough about fulmer.

What a joke. Fulmer would make more money in speaking engagements than Lambuth could pay him to be coach. Could always interview Tony Dungy while you're at it.

I really don't understand all the hatred for Coach Fulmer. I am completely behind Coach Kiffin and i understood that the change was needed for a while before it came, but this man took UT to another level and is very passionate about the Vols. Dont be a Douche and hate on Fulmer. He is gone. ALso for all those Coach Majors people that are gonna jump me i am also am a fan of his and all he did for the University, so i dont spew out hatred or make fun of him either. They are gone why keep bashing.
