Pittman taking a shot at our Vols? Slaughter and Nichols named as captains for Saturday

If this is what it takes for Pittman to get motivated against us, then he already lost.

Why? Would you be mad if one of your coworkers went to a competitor and was given recognition? Will them being captains add more points to their score?
I was in that situation once. Myself and another teammate were captains in a football game against our former team and we won the game.
It was a nice meeting at midfield for everyone involved.
I do believe our coaches were sending a malicious message though.

They should be more worried that two guys who couldn't climb out of the bottom of the depth chart at UT... are now starters for them. Maybe they found religion and turned it all around... but if I remember correctly Slaughter struggled to earn PT because he was a couple of steps slow. Now he's going to guard Squirrel and company? I didn't even notice Nichols was gone. The last time he really got much talk was when he was a recruit. Did he ever challenge for anything more that STs or scout team work?

Wasn’t Slaughter a starter last year? I seem to remember he had some really nice take downs but got torched a lot.

Agreed, wish they had stayed, and naming them captains for the TN game is sort of rubbing it in our face.
We didn't want them enough. They will have a fair chance to rub it in during the game, when it counts. They have a right to a chip on their shoulder. As long as they play clean, "Let's Get It On." I actually hope ABC commentators have a lot to say when making a story about Doneiko's transfer. We should throw right at him, honestly. Exploit him. People remember when the hype train runs you over.

Hooker talked to Jacob Warren the other day about this. Warren said nobody had an issue with players leaving for playing time. He did have an issue with a certain LBer who left for Bama. He wouldn't even say his name.

I forgot about him. Was he ever drafted? Supposedly one of best LB at UT this century.

I pretty much agree with this. That one LB that left us, maybe he needed to leave, in the wake of the Pruitt scandal, but go to Bama??? Then smoke a cigar after a win? But not have the decency to congratulate old teammates after a loss??? Pfft.

Meanwhile, don't know if D. Slaughter was encouraged to leave or not, but I do have good memories of him knocking the crap out of opponents when he was wearing our orange. Other than this weekend, I wish him well.

Making our former players team captain for the game may not set well with some of our current players (and coaches).
I think most players prob glad to see each other...just my opinion. Portal is so common now for players. Players understand guys either go where they can play or go where they can get paid. At least JH has developed a culture where players don't leave because of the bad experience (Jones/Pruitt)...even most of the guys that have left had positive things to say about their time at UT.

They wouldn’t have stayed because they were never going to get any valuable minutes.

Slaughter pretty much had to play because we didn’t have any other options.

BURN THE HERETIC!!!!!!

But seriously, this is bush league and makes me feel sorry for them more than it makes me angry.

Missed a couple games

During his senior season, Slaughter totaled 32 tackles, one sack and one pass deflection. The physical corner earned a 56.0 PFF grade in 387 snaps during the 2023 season.

Over the course of his career, Slaughter recorded 87 tackles, seven pass deflections, three sacks and one interception. Slaughter’s junior season was his most productive in Knoxville as he put up career-numbers and earned a 71.4 PFF grade in 486 snaps.

I’ve always liked Pittman. I don’t think it’s a shot at anyone as much as it is a statement about Arkansas need.
