Plavsic denied by NCAA

It may help, may not. But the NCAA controls the kids. They can't work, can't sign autographs for money. What the alternative? I know the thought is the kids get a free education. But what the NCAA does is benefit from kids while the kids get not much for what they do for the school/NCAA.

Not exactly true. The kids get a venue in which to show off their talents. Zion Williamson was not the highest rated recruit on his team. He played at Duke where he got ridiculous exposure. He signed the richest rookie shoe deal in history. Now, he would have made great money regardless, but playing at Duke made him much more. The great ones can also take out an insurance policy that ensures them loss of income.

I am just concerned about an open market (even though I am a capitalist). These kids get great value at what they get even though not much of it goes right in their pocket. They get the big stage. I actually am fine with them getting a stipend, even if it’s $2-3k per month. Gives them money to spend. Just not sure college athletics will look the same in a few years.

Like I said, you don't have to like it, agree it with it, or otherwise, but it IS the rule. No amount of personal disagreement will change that.
Yea...I don't know about that. What will be the ratings for Memphis when they play Oregon? Extremely higher due to Memphis taking on the NCAA.

How much do we have to pay that Shelby County judge to overrule the ncaa call on Plavsic as he did on Wiseman?

What does that have to do with the NCAA rule that is preventing Uros Plavsic from playing this season (harkening back to your original question)?

What does the second appeal process entail? What are the 5 boxes that get to be checked. Based on who else has been cleared, I can't find 5 consistent elements in any of them.

Wondered the same thing. If I read it right a player/school only needs to be able to check one box. But the whole process is so inconsistent I think that’s what Barnes was referring to when he said “he wished they’d do the whole process on a case by case bases”.

Why aren't these decisions explained by the NCAA? Its astonishing how they can make such important rulings without giving a reason to at least the university...I personally believe it should be public...The only explanation would be that because the decisions lack consistency across the board, they're making them in the shadows to avoid scrutiny....Smh
