Plavsic denied by NCAA

It's water under the river now. time to focus on how to win against teams like Washington in toronto who have 3 7 footers over 240 pounds. Won't have to wait long to see what the strategy is going to be moving forward. Can't wait to see what the Master comes up with.

Does anyone know if there is a REAL legal remedy he can seek to play? Any precedent lawsuits, etc.? I am sure the school is limited, not sure at all about an individual.

I'm not sure UT would play hardball. I wish they would.

Run and gun

In my mind, it is because he came from another country to play. His support system is not the same as for most players. He probably still has major language and culture barriers. After his coach left, he had no one that he had known from the past, in his life, in Arizona.

To me, it seems that they had done a bait and switch. They hired his mentor so that they could get him to come there. Then, after one year, they fired his mentor, but tried to force him to stay.

I just think it stinks all the way around. His hardship was way more than most cases. His support base was in Chattanooga, just down the road from Knoxville. Who wouldn't want to come back to that?
Well-explained. Thanks.

If Barnes is smart, I would watch the finals of the Tennessee AAA state tournament from this past year when Bearden took a far superior, athletically bigger, Memphis East team to a loss. Wiseman didn't know what hit him, was totally frustrated, and they never had much of a chance against Bearden's game plan.

Really think they will resort to true run and gun?

I think that Barnes emphases defense so much that it will slow things down a bit. But no doubt they'll try to score before defenses have a chance to set up. I hope that when they are forced to get into half court offensive sets that they move the ball a lot and make those defenses work and wear down. Teams that are big and deep and experienced will be nightmarish opponents.

Sue them, a judge would likely grant an injunction for the season. The NCAA has an absolutely terrible track record in law suits, losing almost all prominent ones they've ever been involved with, they'd likely lose this one too.

As long as the NCAA has so much power it's best not to piss them off. Just file it away and use it as leverage when they judge future issues involving TN.

Sue them and you could end up getting randomly drug tested much more frequently in every sport.

I was at that game, Bearden's game plan was perfect for Wiseman. Pember didn't guard him, Pember, Glover and Stephney stayed out on the wings and guarded the wings and as soon as they got an offensive rebound it was a kick out to Glover or Stephney (who is on UNC Asheville for our first game by the way) and they ran down and got a shot up before Wiseman could even cross halfcourt for defense if I remember correctly.

I'm new to the group.thx for haveing me.i have lurked for a long time though.i am also shocked of the denial considering alot of the ones that got approval..my take on this season is we tn will have to shoot lights out from the 3 point line to have success.

Yes, and correct me if I'm wrong, but whenever Wiseman got the ball down low, he couldn't move because of the swarming D.

Then the 4 other non conf schools Tennessee will play with multiple 7 footers......to 7ft 3in.

Tennessee should be more athletic than most teams, so that should help.

Run and gun
Absolutely. I think we already saw a glimmer of the style we will play in the exhibition game. Push tempo, pass ahead in particular up the sidelines and take the best first open shot we get. With no size we have to thrive on the quickness that Fulkerson, Pons and Nkamhoua clearly have. We are going to get punished by big physical teams but there are not many of those in basketball these days anyway. I don’t think we will live and die by the 3 but certainly will be attack mode. Our offensive rebounding will probably be poor so we will need to concentrate getting back on defense.

Washington will be a tough game. However I don’t think Tennessee should be overly concerned with their size......other than causing foul trouble for Tennessee.

The 7-4 guy is an unrated walk on, the 7ft guy played in 5 games last year with virtually no contribution to the team. The 6-11 guy will be a 4th year player, he averaged 2 points and 2 rebounds last year.

So while they do have “size” it’s just as, if not more inexperienced than Tennessee’s “size.”

I could be way off.....we’ll see, but other than fouls I don’t see Washington’s “size” as a big problem for Tennessee.

Then in the SEC, no one will have a decisive “size” advantage......they will have “experience” and maybe “skill” advantages but not simply “height.”

At this point, is there a downside to declaring overt cyber-war against the NCAA? Overloading it's servers with inbound manifestos. Bogging down it's social media accounts with fly-bys. Jamming it's phone lines with robo-callers. Thousands of letters each day from irate fans. What could they do to the University if we the fans declared war? Especially if CPF came out and publicly disassociated the University from the fans efforts.

Another question, is there any reason why a fanbase could not collectively sue the NCAA just to cost them money and generate bad publicity? If 200k of us chipped in 25 dollars, we could bury the NCAA in legal costs for a decade.

The goal isn't to get Plavsic eligible. The goal is to force the disbanding of the NCAA. I don't believe they'll ever be decent governance under this organization. Dartmouth and Emory should not have any input on how the SEC, ACC, et al operate athletics.

Great idea on chipping in $25 each. I'll hold the money for you.
