Plavsic denied by NCAA

And y’all keep missing the point about it. That the NCAA doesn’t have special rules about eligibility with transfers or freshmen for higher profile teams. Or that the NCAA is purposefully screwing Tennessee.
You don't have to believe that the NCAA is "purposefully screwing Tennessee" to also believe that the NCAA shows preferential treatment to the blue bloods with regards to player eligibility. The two ideas are independent of each other. The most obvious exception to that rule occurs in regards to amateurism. You keep banging the table for Enes Kanter, but his situation and Plavsic's are not alike, at all.

Evian Westbrook transfer to UConn was also rejected by NCAA. Apparently NCAA a few months ago said it was tightening transfer request due to coaching changes.

I’m wondering if NCAA has some sort of quota per team of transfer eligibility. Transfer in- transfer out.
A former TN women’s b-ball player was ruled ineligible too.
Who did we have that transferred who was eligible to play?
Just a theory..

If the power 5 coaches and schools don't get together to bust up the NCAA, this will continue ad nauseam. The last report I can find for the NCAA regarding their earnings was for 2017. $1 billion dollars. They are soaking up the money and calling the shots and these schools keep letting them do it.

This gives Fulkerson and Kent and ONR and Pember a chance to get more minutes and this will also give Plavsic a chance to get stronger and we have a legit 7 footer for the 2020 season.

Unfortunately Plavsic used his redshirt last year and his 5-year clock started when he enrolled a year ago. The NCAA just stole a year from him. He'll only be able to log minutes in his 3rd, 4th, and 5th years. But I understand slightly. They don't want every player that redshirts to be able to transfer and be eligible immediately the following year.

Y’all are directing your anger incorrectly.

Look at Aubrey Solomon, he had (on the surface at least) less of a case than Uros to be immediately eligible but was because Michigan was fine with it and cooperated. Most likely Arizona State (for whatever reason) did not cooperate and was not fine with Uros being eligible. The NCAA usually defaults with what the school says from the transfer. Tennessee cooperated with DJ Burns transferring and he was eligible.

About sums it up. But Michigan wasn't fine with it for a good while. I suspect Fulmer sent them some Krispy Kreme. Dearborn isn't that far from Ann Arbor. Tempe? Maybe too far from his reach.

Can somebody fill me in on why this decision was so unjust? I’m not very familiar with his situation

Part of Fulmer's response -

We are at a loss as to how this decision aligns with a mission of prioritizing the well-being of student-athletes, and we are struggling to provide an explanation to a deserving young man who stands to lose a year of eligibility

Witch Doctor say its nice to have an AD that will stand up and fight and call it for the BS that it is. Witch Doctor skeptical about Fulmer long term but now I think I want him long term!
Go Vols and Fulmer too

So the NCAA is screwing Tennessee for not letting a backup center play, yet let Aubrey Solomon play....so why didn’t they screw us then?

Because UT Basketball is on the move. They knew UT FB Wasn't a threat to the "Protected Ones" quite yet. JMO.

Also, it’s funny to see this idea that the NCAA legit is trying to screw Tennessee. Come on guys

Yeah, I mean they were so fair and consistent with how they delivered a just punishment to UNC after they found out they committed academic fraud for decades going back to early in Dean Smith's tenure...lol

I am not saying they are trying to single out TN but there is a long history of an unequal playing field between the "have's" and "have nots"

I'm ignorant of the rules but does this limit the ability for Uros to practice or work out with the team? Really hope he is still allowed to participate in those areas so he can stay in shape and learn so he is ready to be a force next year.

Fun to think about UT stepping on the court able to match talent with anyone in the country.

I am pretty sure he can do everything but play.

In my mind, it is because he came from another country to play. His support system is not the same as for most players. He probably still has major language and culture barriers. After his coach left, he had no one that he had known from the past, in his life, in Arizona.

To me, it seems that they had done a bait and switch. They hired his mentor so that they could get him to come there. Then, after one year, they fired his mentor, but tried to force him to stay.

I just think it stinks all the way around. His hardship was way more than most cases. His support base was in Chattanooga, just down the road from Knoxville. Who wouldn't want to come back to that?

Does anyone know if there is a REAL legal remedy he can seek to play? Any precedent lawsuits, etc.? I am sure the school is limited, not sure at all about an individual.
