Players Speaking Up

I asked a serious question and you chose to answer cowardly. Your choice.
I asked you a serious question. Were you a love child? Was your mom stepping out on her husband? Are you the milkman's baby? Is that why the man you knew as your father didn't really love you? As I said, you matter.

You are so full of crap. I mentor, coach, and teach in a high poverty school. I spent my 20’s volunteering after work with several public housing projects mentoring and teaching African American children and couldn’t beg enough for help. My father was an alcoholic and wasn’t around and my mother worked two jobs to make ends meet. I worked full time to pay for all three of my degrees while going to school full time. You don’t have the first clue about others. You continually play the victim and blame all of African Americans ills on an institution that ended 150 years ago. As far as reparations go, not every black person in the US is a descendant of a slave, very few people actually owned slaves, every ancestor of a white person didn’t migrate to the US before the Civil War, many whites fought against slavery and actually gave up their lives in doing so.
Do you want a cookie? You say that as if you want an award. The institution of slavery ended over 100 years ago. Jim Crow ended 50 years ago. Other discriminatory tactics have been in place since. So for all that you do, you still don't know too much. Every black person is not a descendant of slaves, but every black person has been touched by discrimination. I can trace my ancestry back to slaves in South Carolina.

What specific acts done to you, held you back?

Please be specific. Surely your cowardly victimhood at least has solid roots.

Why stop there? What are the discriminatory tactics you speak of? I hate to burst your bubble but there’s probably not a person alive that hasn’t been the victim of some sort of discrimination.

That’s one of the best points I’ve ever seen on this board. I have no idea what he and Josh are talking about. We’ve been nothing but supportive for both of them. I can’t think of anyone we haven’t been supportive of as humans. We even supported AJ Johnson when he was being accused of rape.

These propaganda campaigns are crushing every aspect of normalcy. This stuff is so agenda driven from the power structure that you people are the last to understand but the are on the front lines because they are so easily influenced.

Harvard Grad Threatens To Stab Those Who Say 'All Lives Matter' in Viral Video

A recent Harvard graduate in a TikTok video stated that she was going to “stab” anyone who said that “all lives matter.”

Claira Janover, who graduated from Harvard in May with a degree in government and psychology, posted the disturbing video on June 5 to her TikTok account under the username @cjanover. The clip went viral with over 24,000 views, more than 2,900 likes, and close to 1,600 comments.

“I’ma stab you, and while you’re struggling and bleeding out, I’ma show you my paper cut and say, ‘My cut matters too,'” she said.

Those days never were. Jessie Owens was politicized in the 1936 Olympics (really, the entire games were politicized by the Nazis), as was Max Schmelling during his boxing career. Ali speaking against the Vietnam War. Bobby Fischer in chess (kind of a sport). History is replete with examples of Cricket matches being highly politicized. The 1980 and 1984 Olympics. The 1968 Games and the Black Power Salute. Keeping South Africa out of the Olympics and other international games to help force their hand on Apartheid. Republicans sponsoring spots on NASCAR autos. The Billie Jean King v Bobby Riggs matches.

That's just a few that come to mind.

You may not agree with them. You may choose to boycott the games, or stop watching, etc. The school can choose to issue a statement (though as a state actor, the school will need to be mindful of 1A issues.

In a lot of ways, politics is the ultimate sport. To expect the two not to mingle is useless.

Look up the explanation of the 1968 symbolism before you just label it as a Black Power salute.

"In his autobiography, Silent Gesture, Smith stated that the gesture was not a "Black Power" salute but rather a "human rights" salute."

And they didn't take knees on the anthem.

I aspire to be as intelligent as a man who believes other white people are holding you down. Now, we are giving reparations to people who feel they have been discriminated against? You are an intellectual warrior 😂 You are without a doubt the most racist and perpetually offended person I have ever met.

Wow, I have never heard of Jim Crow you intellectual genius! My grandmother grew up on a sharecropper’s farm, what’s your point? Unless you are in your 60’s or 70’s, you haven’t been impacted by Jim Crow either so what other excuses will you be adding?

Why not? I’m open to the counter argument.

Labron James has no business constantly griping about how hard it is to be a black man in America.

I think their is a way for Lebron to discuss this without sounding like a hypocrite. He was defending China for pete's sake. It's hard for him to look smart. Instead of framing an optimistic tone he soaks the communities in the victimization rhetoric. Until people like Lebron start to change the tone of the discussion others that profit from it won't. And maybe that includes Lebron. I would not put him in the Ali category as a leader of a just cause.

He may be the worst ever in terms of a sports figure wanting to be a leader socially.

His whole Daryl Morey(sp?) / China spiel was a disaster and the problem is I'm not sure if he is smart enough to understand that it was.

He isn't. Quite the moron he is.

How about this then ... if you are of English , Scottish , Irish decent that’s born in America and you visit any of those countries , how would they refer to you ? Now let’s do the same test for black people born in America .. if a black person visits Africa how would the people there refer to them ? Hint.. there’s only one answer to both questions .

Saying “we’re all Americans” is factually true. However in the current climate, it’s meant to dismiss and de-legitimize the very valid grievances of African Americans. It’s basically saying “shut up, you’re problems are no worse than anyone else’s”

I’ll add that my position doesn’t reflect the destructive protests by some claiming to be victims. There is a line that divides criminal behavior and rightful arguments of discrimination and institutional racism

What does that have to do with the fact that the majority of black Americans still experience racial discrimination?

Just curious if you're black? If so, can you provide a personal experience you can share. If not, can you provide a personal experience of privilege. Thanks.

So other countries that call everyone visiting their country from here , Americans ..are dismissing and delegitimizing valid grievances of black people ? That makes no logical sense whatsoever . They just call us what we are .. Americans
