Players Speaking Up

How does the existence of the BLM, negate the existence of racial discrimination?

I daresay it doesn't - ?
It does, however, make it unpalatable as an organization. I think it's the anti-capitalist, anti-American stuff, and the extrapolation of some existent racism to being systemic racism.

Or maybe it's a negative acronym association with my favorite breakfast sandwich. Could be both.

Because of course you agree with him that recognizing that racial discrimination still exists in America, is somehow Marxist?

How is recognizing racial discrimination exists and the hypersensitive hysteria we've seen over the last month with widespread criminal activity congruent? This is a power grab and meant to sow seeds of discontent prior to an election. It is hard to disprove racism and it has become a weapon used by politicians to advance an agenda regurgitating the challenges of the 60's fifty years later.

The current movement misses the mark, and real ways to address issues that should be more concerning to all Americans have been hijacked by fringe ideas, though need solving, lack in real value of identifying the true root causes of social and economic divides.

It's a way to distract from the corruption taking place on both sides of the aisle. When something ain't working people should change those who they elect and put in charge. This should start at the local levels. Is it just me or is it no fun being around negative people all the time that look for the worst in people? They should look in the mirror first but that would be too easy.

Palmer didn't bring up BLM in his statement, so why are you brining it up if it has no impact on the existence of racial discrimination in America?

Did you actually read the study cited in the article? Because that is wholly not what their study found, nor was it the conclusion the researchers put forth.

That is precisely what it is implying: if two people apply for a home loan, one black and one white, then the black applicant is turned down at a disproportionate rate per the study. Which according to the article implies nefarious reasons like racism which is ridiculous. Banks are not conspiring against black people. There are much more possible logical reasons like employment history, debt to income ratio, etc. as opposed to white supremacists controlling the banks

We are talking about racial discrimination, why are you attempting to draw false eqivalancies to all other forms of discrimination?

Again, you are trying to create another straw man.

Nope, I'm explaining discriminating against anyone for superficial reasons is stupid and the person discriminated against is no less harmed just because his issue was weight, rather than skin color.

Wtf does this even mean? “Don’t support us as human beings”?
Pretty simple.!It means if you only want them to entertain you with their football talent and don’t want to listen to their other thoughts, don’t bother with being a fan and don’t come to see them play.

People are discriminated against for superficial reasons all the time.

Let's have an honest conversation though, this recent lightening rod was created by a maniac cop in Minnesota but it was a couple of other events that warmed the soup. The vast majority of cops are good but it doesn't mean we can't have reforms to make this system better.

Anarchists, far left and far right groups have been laying in wake to help sow racial discourse though, and combine that with nothing going on because of COVID-19 and you have a situation as hot as fish grease.

Thats literally the definition of a false equivilancy.

A company discriminating against those without a 4 year degree is not the same as a company descrimimating against somone solely because they have an ethnic-sounding name, or some other indicator in their resume that identifies them as a minority.

Requiring a degree is a set standard, not superficial discrimination.

True. Maybe the company needs to review their HR department and/or hiring practices. What we've seen lately will not address any of that hence my missing the boat comment. Addressed even earlier is better schools. The public school system in America overall especially the inner city is not adequate, but I digress.

I made a comment that the poster's response might seem all over the place because BLM is all over the place and due to a Marxist foundation.

I didn't follow your exchange, or read Palmer's msg(s). That said, the school should not be advocates of BLM proper, or donate money from jersey sales, etc. to them. If Palmer is an advocate, I chalk it up to being young and hope he grows out of it and find a better group to associate with. I disagree with those who claim systemic racism, but agree there are racists.

I'm trying to keep it short.

He argues that Palmer didn't bring up blm but this whole "revolution" has been about blm. Also, I think Palmer brought it up later trying to clarify and it has been the center of discourse.

Does this mean if I go to the grocery store I'm supposed to listen to the thoughts and feeling of the stock person, or not shop there from now on?

If you don’t want to listen to the life experiences of someone from a different background than you, then you don’t understand what they were actually talking about. You don’t think there’s a problem with racism. These kids who experience it every day are telling you there is. You don’t want to listen to them because they’re young and what they’re saying is inconvenient for you. But they’re not “brainwashed.” Listen to the podcast, they are laying out specific examples of the racism that they have personally faced.

Like UT’s original statement said, if you don’t support them through the week, then stay home on Saturdays.
”experience it everyday?” Hardly. I’m not discounting these kids probably have experienced racism in some form or fashion during their lives. But everyday, everywhere they go? No way.

I support their opinion to tweet or say anything politically they want to but I disagree with the “well you don’t agree with my politics so you don’t even care about me as human so go away we don’t need you”

That comes across as being ignorant, small minded and refusing to leave your little bubble of emotional unintelligence

So you're saying a race of people that have been brutalized and discriminated against since they've been in America have no right to be angry at the race of people that oppressed their ancestors, and continue to do so in some form? Do I hate white people? No. Do I hate racists? With out a doubt.
You mean the black people who enslaved their ancestors and sold them to whites? Or the black people who still enslave them in most countries in Africa?

You know those people that you claimed has moved on were paid reparations by the US government. Those two groups of individuals are not brutalized by white Americans as much as black people are. You are racists, you're just to much of a coward to say so. Asian Americans are discriminated against.
”black people are brutalized by whites” wow what a lie. When it comes to assaults, robberies, etc that wind blows one way all right

I respect the right of everyone to have an opinion. That doesn't mean I should be forced to hear it. Is racism still a problem? Absolutely. I can think of a million other problems as well, but do I expect everyone to sit around and listen as I opine on them? Nope. That's a choice, and I respect the right of people to choose as much as I respect their right to have an opinion. I'm not going to be issuing faux ultimatums to show my outrage.

UT made a statement on this? Anyone have a link?

It’s not just football players. I don’t give a **** what any college kid thinks.

People should be angry at other people who give them a legitimate reason to be angry. No one should be angry at an entire race of people. That's absurd.
