I think there is a fairly decent chance the Vols end up a 6 seed and host an 11 which will likely be the Three loss SEC Team they let in and playing either SMU or Boise in round 2.

quarters, not semi

12 seed big 12 champ
4 seed Boise state

Win both and that’s the semi finals, right?

12 teams, beat big 12 champ you’re in the last 8
Beat Boise state you’re in the last 4.

If you only have 4 teams left, that’s a semi final.

I can’t see a scenario where we rise to #6. The Oregon-Penn State loser and Notre Dame will still be ahead of us, along with four conference champs. I think #7 is our ceiling, and that’s only if the loser of the SECCG drops below us.

In my opinion, the only possible chance we get to host a game in Knoxville is if Texas beats Georgia.
One of the power 5 / ACC / Big 12 champion will take a Host spot
The big10 loser is Host #2
Notre Dame is Host #3
If Georgia defeats Texas, Texas takes the last spot. If Texas beats Georgia, since they are right on that line, it has to affect their seed line, even if it's just one spot. A conference title game loser has never not fell in the polls.

Nah, Miami lost....I think #7 looks good. Still doesn't say we'll host but it's not a foregone conclusion.

The 5th highest conference champion (right now the Big 12 winner) will only host if they are ranked in the top 8. Too much ground to make up for that group, IMO.

Expect the Big 12 champ (assuming Boise St. wins out and gets the #4 seed) to play at Notre Dame or the B1G runner-up in the 5 vs 12 game.

The ACC was likely a one bid league anyways. Miami never mattered to us. SMU or Clemson will either be guaranteed to host or get a bye.

But it didn’t help our odds of hosting. They were slotted into the conference championship spot. So they’re just switching places with SMU. It doesn’t really help or hurt us.

There is a caveat to this though. We will move up another spot in the rankings which helps us with respect to the conference championship game losers. For example Penn St is more likely to fall behind us (assuming they lose CCG) if we are ranked sixth than if we’re ranked seventh. It seems negligible but could have an impact after next weekend.

Agree. I didn't even look at how far the big12 was

I’ll bet it’s $500 for a ticket!

If the price is only $500 a ticket, consider yourself lucky lol.

I would expect a mortgage payment on a decent house at a minimum on the secondary matket-and I'm not joking about that.

With only 3500 being allocated to the opposing school, then you're gonna have to compete vs them on the secondary market.

IF- big if-we get a home game vs IU I would expect their fans to pay through the nose to secure a seat. Let's be honest here-chances of them replicating this season in say the next 20 years is going to be difficult-at best. This may literally be a once in a lifetime opportunity for them.

IMO, #7 is pretty much a foregone conclusion unless someone jumps us. Clemson is done with their loss to USCjr. That's different than saying we'll host...that question is up in the air.

I think most folks on here might be making a mistake thinking that Ohio State won’t fall to number 9 or 10 or so. That was a horrific loss today. Horrific. And this committee has dropped every single team with a loss to lower ranked team with a minimum of six spots. I think they drop them seven spots- or more.

They didn’t lose to a playoff contender today. They lost to a team ranked number 50. A 20 point underdog. At home. Let that sink in for a minute.

I have no knowledge as to how the CFP/host schools will price the first round games, but I expect a face value of $250-$300 per ticket, at minimum.
