Please DON'T start Nico [Nico merged]

Until Tim Banks teaches fundamentals like wrapping a guy up instead of bumping him when you're literally the last line of the defense before they score, it doesn't matter. Lots of issues

The DC does not teach fundamentals. That is what the position coaches are for.

The DC is responsible for the scheme and play calls. Banks is doing a poor job on those.

Is the risk of getting hurt higher if you let someone play vs having to play. I’ve never heard of this weird phenomenon

So maybe we shouldn’t be playing Wright,Small,McCoy Keyton,or Milton. They may get hurt
We should just petition the SEC to let us sit out the rest of the season since no freshman QB ever did anything worthwhile without having five first-round draft picks on the O-line and it’s completely impossible that a consensus five-star QB might play on a whole different level with this line than a QB who can’t make reads or move in the pocket and has already failed previously at two Power Five programs.

I get that he needs experience but this is NOT the kind of experience he needs. The OL has major issues and is flat out dangerous. The last thing we need is an inexperienced and talented QB to get a major injury for nothing.

Milton is not our future and he probably has no future in the NFL based on his accuracy and decision making but he is HUGE and can take punishment.

Until the OL is fixes we need to start Milton. If he gets hurt and we have to go to plan b so be it but dont risk hurting Nico or giving him a bad experience as a starting QB. This year isnt worth it.
Yeah god forbid he has a “bad experience as a starting QB”

Thank you. Well said

It's a dilemma to be sure. The OLine was atrocious in protecting Milton's pass pocket. There are a couple of guys that probably should be walk-ons and when you see them out there, you know it's not going well at that skill group. They recruit lots of big bodies, but they don't seem to develop well. The juggling among the OL that we saw early in fall practice was because they couldn't find an adequate backup center and they could probably see problems coming.

Understand your concern about keeping Nico safe behind that current group. The HC makes that type of decision. I'm concerned about Heupel's demeanor recently. And his play calling last night made you think that he has no confidence in this team or Joe. He looks haggard with the unshaved look and he really has looked like he wasn't having fun anymore. I'm not seeing energy and he needs some now to refocus his team and coaches going forward, regardless of how he plans to handle his QBs.

Where are all those yahoos who mocked those of us who said repeatedly on here that it was an issue that we weren’t recruiting well enough? “You don’t know what you’re talking about, Heupel will develop those three-stars and whip the five-stars, he’s recruiting character…” Like the great character guy who just got arrested for possession.

I’ll bet if the Jets had a better Oline or just not have let Aaron Rodgers play, he wouldn’t have gotten hurt

I wonder what kind of recruiting class Deon could pull here? His very first class would beat anything we have had in twenty years. And he’d get actual impact players from the portal rather than the leftovers we get.

True. But a least that was possession and not sodomy with a teen (see bama wr)

Please tell me we would never hire Deion

Why? Because he can actually coach? Because he actually works the hell out of his players and expects perfection from them as opposed to the babysitters we always hire?
No. I’ve just seen enough of him my entire life and just wish he’d go away honestly

I try not to let personality get in the way of performance. If my car needs fixing, I don’t go to Jimbob because he’s more personable if he’s also incompetent and there’s an ******* who is a genius with cars and always gets it fixed the first time. If we’re hiring on personality rather than ability we really are f—cked and the admin just needs to shut it down.

Milton is not the biggest issue. If we screw around and Nico has surgery and cant be back in time to start next season thst would be a disaster. Fix the OL before you put our future out there. Hes no good to us hurt or traumatized. We saw thst crap happen with so many QBs over the last 15 years.
Milton IS the biggest issue. It all begins and ends with him. With Hooker we’re 3-0 easy.

Milton is a serviceable QB. His numbers aren’t terrible. So those who support him are right in a sense. The problem is he MISSES OBVIOUS and developing opportunities bc he can’t process situations fast enough in live game action. Creating those mismatches and split second opportunities is what Heupel’s O is all about. Take that away and we’re DOA.

Milton has to be benched. Nico has to start. NEXT GAME. Or we give up 60% of our O going into the heart of our SEC schedule including our fast tempo advantage before the opening KO.

If Saban can start skinny mini Bryce Young in prime time as a Frosh and DOMINATE what’s our excuse?

Make no mistake Volfans it’s NOT hysteria or Sunday morning quarterbacking IMO to recognize reality that our entire season is on the line with Heup’s choice of STARTING QB. Now that we ALL KNOW Joe isn’t the answer.

Players coaches don’t win championships. You can’t protect your players and excuse away their game day flaws. At the expense of the W/L record. That’s the road to ruin and the unemployment line.

Time to face the music

People like to tag on Joe, but Hadden's play was atrocious. Surely he isn't the best we have available.

Preach. Hopefully this isn’t Pruitt-JG 2.0 where a dead man can see a change is needed but the coach is too stubborn to do it.
