You must not be watching the Alabama games. Their o-line play has been atrocious. Maybe you're saying they have the dudes, and they do. But so far they've been worse than ours. I hope that continues, but it probably won't. They have too much talent to keep playing like that.

No QB will look good playing behind a horrible offensive line like ours and add receivers not being able to get open and when they do cant catch a cold!Tom Brady would look terrible on this offense!

Outsiders opinion

The short of it is- I don’t blame Joe Milton or an injury riddled O-line. Ultimately it is the coaching and play calling that is likely most at fault for the offensive woes. Hard to stomach considering how good the 2022 TN offense was but ultimately that is the case.

The coaches know what they have in Milton and what he is capable of, and if they don’t, they should. They also know the state of the O-line, and if they don’t, they should.

Milton has a ton of physical talent, but his confidence seems very shaken to me after watching. It’s hard to get through 3 progressions in 2 seconds, maybe impossible. It’s tough to make pre snap reads and audible if you’re not adequately prepared. This goes back to coaching. The coaches should put Milton in situations to build confidence not tear it down. Don’t ask him to do things that you haven’t prepared him to be comfortable doing. Take advantage of his strengths or don’t play him. This is a coaching fault, not a player fault

We have seen this movie before and usually things don’t get better on the fly. I see losses to Bama, UGA, A&M and/or USCjr. Defenses will keep everything in front and TN will continue to throw horizontal routes. The running game will be hit or miss, depends on the opponent.


I’m disappointed w the offense as while I expected a drop off from last yr, I didn’t anticipate this type of offense. The Austin Peay game was brutal to watch, too.

They are paying Nico alot of money not to be the starter. Now that the Florida game is over and the season is threatening to be a bust, it is time to start Nico and see if he can generate a spark. If not, still best to take his lumps now and get it out of the way, so that he can be ready to lead the team next season.

Twice now, Milton has had a chance to lead and it just hasn't worked out.

JG had good numbers also . Milton is way better than when he came here for sure but that's not Hooker level at all . Joe is not going to take a game over and win for you at all right now his processing of game speed isn't fast enough in this offense . But is we had better play calling and line play he would be serviceable IMO

There is also a huge difference that I haven’t seen anyone mention. The new rules about not stopping the clock on first downs and going out of bounds until the last two minutes of each half have drastically reduced the number of plays that our team runs. Last year we averaged about 80 plays per game. This year we’re averaging 59, including 53 plays against AP and 50 against Florida. Obviously this reduces the effectiveness of our up tempo offense as far as tiring out the defense. We have many other problems but I worry that this could really hurt Heupel in the future. What are your thoughts folks?

I just don’t like the clock rule because it cuts out lots of plays on all games. All for the sake of commercials. I hope coaches and fans continue to voice their displeasure. This is supposed to be a one year test and then review, well it is failing the test. It is taking away quite a bit of game. We don’t need nfl clock rules. GBO

People keep saying injury riddled line but we only have 1 out right now that is injured. Of course it’s at probably most important position across the line. Sure we had to replace 2 that moved on to the nfl but when cooper gets back this line is be capable of playing much better. We will get better. GBO

I think the bump was just Haden being Haden, he screwed us so many times last year and he’s cost us this year just in the last two weeks. He shouldn’t being playing. If I’m not mistaking he was called on 3 or 4 PIs against against Austin peay, the INT makes he got seems to make people forget the PIs lol

Let Joe have 3 options. Run pass option. That's what Michigan tcu and Ohio st do. Last I checked their qbs did well. Coach up the o line and have a shootout

I agree 100%, but now you will become a hater to all the JM, JG sycophants on this forum. They will claim you don’t know anything about football, that you are a low IQ football fan, who just finds it easy to blame the QB. You will hear every excuse as to how JM did not actually step out of bounds against ole piss. You will hear how you don’t have the right to be a fan any longer. How there is no way we can let Nico play because our Oline looks horrible with a stagnant QB in now. It is time for a change at QB, and some of the lost Milton “sunshine pumpers”
