Please fix the new season ticket holder seats

Still terrible. They don’t recline as much, but they bend enough to still make it an awful experience for those sitting behind you. I’m 6’5” and I’d love to move anywhere else to get away from these things, even if they do entirely fix the recline issue. If you get lucky and get someone in front of you that doesn’t recline (or has someone in front of them digging into their knees), they are still in your space and are hard plastic.

I love Neyland, the Vols, and what our University is doing to our entire athletic and academic programs. But they are making the game experience worse for all but the most exclusive folks that can afford or don’t mind the price for the extra amenities. We bought the chair backs and have asked that they be taken down from our seats. They aren’t comfortable for one and I hate knowing I’m digging into the poor guys knees behind me when I do sit down.

Encouraged they are asking for feedback on this but not holding my breath that anything changes this season or beyond.

Completely agree. They are so bad. Did you sit in some that were altered for the game this weekend and got the email asking for your feedback? Mine hadn’t been altered yet and it was miserable and I love being there but it’s ruining the experience

Yes, ours and those around us appear to have been “fixed” - the recline was noticeably restricted. However, they are still reclining enough to make it problematic for anyone behind them that have any height beyond a solid 5’9” (maybe less).

Plus, they are just dang uncomfortable. I cannot imagine anyone after having sit in one of these would have greenlit their purchase. Add to that, we are already cramped and this just exacerbates the problem. Getting in and out of rows of people in various states of recline is downright awful.

The old cushions with the little chairback were 1000x’s better than these abominations. Sure, I wouldn’t say they did much for your back, but they were far less intrusive and at least you had some degree of comfort in them.

Ouch. Hate to hear that. Be sure they know it in the survey then. Maybe the best thing to do this season is remove them all and come up with plan B for next year

Yes, we do, my 6'1" son likes them, I'm shorter and really like back support and asked people behind to let me know if bothered.

You’re the first one then. Literally no one in my section (Q) likes them. And god forbid you have some heifers (sadly a fair amount of fans) in front of you, you aren’t going to be comfortable (and I’m short at 5’7”).

Even the people behind me (who were petite), their knees were in the back of my seat (they also had the seats)

They are awful. I’m 6’ 5” so I’m already tight. But these seats make it impossible. Both games I have left with cut and bruised knees. And people have a hard time getting to their seats because there is so little room. Why can they lock the seats so they can’t lean back at all?

Also, why are there no hand rails on the steps? I have witnessed several people who almost fell and several who did fall just because they had nothing to help stabilize them while they went up or down the steps. Every other stadium we visit has them. Why not Neyland?

See, Coast to Coast AM Radio Voltopia thinks that the AD believes the best way to get people to accept the idea of reducing Neyland's capacity to under 100k is to make it incredibly clear that nothing about seating can be improved without taking that step. So you sprinkle a few things in each year to help make it clear. Put these seatbacks in, people complain, and you go "Oh gosh, that's a shame, we had no idea. How else can we improve the gameday experience for ticket holders? Huh. If only there was a way to increase seating space ..."

The idea of that tradeoff isn't wrong, either, but people are so hostile to the idea of reducing capacity that maybe you have to let them "discover" that solution through some indirect methods. Get them to the point the fans are the ones demanding the seating situation be improved. And then? Tada! 98,000 capacity or whatever with nary a peep of complaint. Or 96,000. Whatever it would be. I feel like people in the know have posted that the UTAD has studied what the new totals would be with modern seating, and the renovated Neyland would be nowhere near 100k. So, there's that.

This is not going to be a popular opinion, but if people focused more on a healthy lifestyle by eating healthy foods and regular exercise then this wouldn't be much of a problem and talk about reducing capacity would be gone. 🤷‍♂️
Obviously you haven’t sit in Neyland with someone who has the new seats in front of you. There was a small kid in front of my daughter at the first game and it was just as bad.

The issue is the chairs leaning back regardless of who is in it and what size they are. The rows are just too close together to have something like that.

Ok let’s talk about these new black season ticket holder seats.

More comfortable to sit in than last years gray cushioned ones, but wow, when someone has them in front of you, because they recline some now, they are digging right into your shins. Just not enough legroom to sit or for others to get in/out of a row.

What did others think and experience?

If you're gonna want chair backs, just move to the Terrace and be done with it. Better yet, buy a box. Anywhere else....just accept your situation and stand.

I hope they can resist putting in handrails. They would restrict views for many. I was at a Braves game other day and hand rail blocked my view of home plate.

And I like the seats they put in. Keeps people from trying to encroach on my seat. These have the mesh too. I don’t have them in front of me though.

Or they could just fix the seats for everyone 🤷🏼‍♂️

This probably isn't the thread for you. Plenty of threads discussing whether to sit or stand. That isn't the issue here.

The burning question is, when will we have a thread covering the correlation between sit vs stand and woo vs non-woo? 😁

make sure you contact them and let them know your feedback as well

at this point, maybe they should remove them all and come up with Plan B for 2025
oh we have shared our feedback! And all for any sort of Plan B. The seating in general is getting unbearable. :(

The aisle between rows is too narrow. The reclining does make it hard for getting out and getting in to a row. The only reason I added seats is because I got tired of not having a seat when 4 people are trying to sit in seats with 2 tickets. They keep my seats assigned to me and that's the positive. The angle of the row behind you just allows for knees to be in your back, regardless of whatever kind of seat you have.
