Please hire a new secondary coach!

However... our DB's RARELY react, for whatever reason, to a WR's reaction. They also coach them to remain in physical contact, with a hand or forearm, while looking back. @jeff1vol

I think we are just not very talented (outside of Hadden) in the defensive backfield. Believe it is difficult for those guys to execute as coached.
This right here. 100% I just don’t think our players react to the receiver well enough and with an apparent lack of experienced talent, I don’t see that changing until possibly next year.

Guys KY's QB played his best came in years. He made several great throws that were defended but completed. While I agree, that our DBs are not elite, they got hurt due to a lack of pressure on the QB. That was caused by a lot of holding by their OL that didn't get called. Their left tackle held on 95% of the pass plays. JMHO

Honestly I have a bigger issue with them not pressing at the line EVER. They allow a free release every play. Why can’t we play press man at least occasionally? Press man with 2 deep safeties and if they make the perfect throw so be it but enough with those easy throws because you’re giving them a 10 yard cushion

Yup, he's a VFL and his knowledge of offense is good. He could use that to teach DBs how to better identify routes, leverage and ball catching signs so
Bring in a former running back to coach DB’s?

maybe just maybe our DBs could turn around when they are in phase with the reciever and make a play for the ball!

Coach Huepel any coach that has anything to do
with coaching our secondary need to be gone. This is one area with some of the young talent we have to get major upgrade in coaching before Martinez and crew screws them up.
Even better....please recruit a real secondary.

I went and did a deep dive on Willie Martinez and his stats over the last decade. He has been good, and he has also been atrocious. Please understand, I am NO Willie Martinez fan, but I thought I'd run the numbers and see what came out. Willie had decent to good numbers until his last season at UCF. His past two years have been dumpster fires. He has made a major improvement so far this season, as I would expect in a new regime's third year. Maybe don't run him out on a rail just quite yet. Check it out.

I have said this a million times. Just watch Bama and Georgia. That’s who we need to be able to beat. And they press a lot.

A little press at the LOS last night would have put Leary in a whirlwind. He was on time and in a rhythm and we never did anything to make him do different. 🤦

If our head coach doesn’t get rid of Martinez this year, he will go the way of Fulmer and keep buddies in place to long. We need a better coach for the secondary.
