I think if UT is only playing 500 ball after the first 8 games this year, like him or not, Coach Fulmer's football tenure as coach of the greatest football program in America has been surpassed.:dunno:
Thoughts?

Neyland will never be really low on attendance, it's like our current situation with gas prices, no matter how expensive the gas is, people continue to buy. Same goes for Neyland, no matter how bad it is, people are going to show up.

So I seriously doubt that's going to be a deciding factor. Now the booster money and whatnot is a different story.

If we get rid of Phil then who whould replace him? Cut will also leave. I think he should only leave on his terms. He is the best coach we have ever had. What would have happened had FSU and Penn St tried to get rid of their legends 15 years into their careers?

That's something to consider. Some people get so caught up in wanting a new coach that they forget we could get Zooked.

You're right. No good coach would ever want the UT job. In fact, we should go ahead and anoint TCHFCATUTK as Coach For Life and be done with it. He is the only thing between UT football and a drop into Division I-AA status. Should TCHFCATUTK leave, the stadium foundation would crumble and the Vols would be forced to play their home games in a pasture at the Ag Campus. Small children would starve on Cumberland Avenue if we made a coaching change. Thank Heavens that TCHFCATUTK is here to stave off these calamities.

I'm sure Florida fans thought the same thing when Spurrier left..

Wow. So, if we finish this season, say, 6-6 with no bowl bid, you wouldn't want a change?

I really respect what Fulmer et al have accomplished, but this year is a "put up or shut up" year for me. Last season was nothing short of unacceptable, especially given the (apparent) talent that we had. I will not be satisfied with continued losses at home, losses to top-10 programs, and lack of player development.

That being said, I'm hoping for a real turnaround and a trip to Hot-lanta come December. Might be a reach, though.

We could also get "Pearled". Though there is always a risk involved.

Gotta luv the drama. We have 18 days until we find out what kind of "Statement" the Vols make. Agree with Kiddiedoc. This is year for Fulmer to set tone on his future with program. He is on the hot seat.

So you would trade respect as a clean program for wins. Fulmer has lost our program. Iwould rather see fewer wins and fewer arrest than more wins and more arrest. We are becoming the Miami Hurricanes of the late 80's.

I find all this so funny ...

some see the glass as half full

som see it as half empty -

I say lets dump it out, fill it with beer and enjoy the upcoming season..

ENOUGH ALREADY!!!!!!

Anything lower than 9 wins and Fulmer needs to retire. I loved what he's done for the program but 98 was a long time ago and I am sick and tired of the excuses. Sanders is gone and if we eat it again this year he will have noone else to blame.

I dont want to become like my Bama friend and get to the point were I am happy just going to a bowl.

A bowl would be better than last season. Our problem is recruiting. Back when we had kids like Al Wilson that cared about the program we did well. These California kids care about themselves and getting to the NFL. We have had poor leadership on the field. There is only so much a coach can do. Expect Ainge to bounce back but do not expect a trip to the ATL unless it is on Dec 30.
