You guys may be leaving out the obvious candidate (at least from the university’s perspective)

I was younger, but not that young, but even then I never understood why Kesling was chosen over Keith? Someone correct me if I’m wrong, but Keith WAS a candidate, right?
Maybe there were politics involved or something? I guess Bobs work on Jefferson Pilot, has some influence.
I think you nailed it. It seemed to be all politics. Also, I don't think MK is the caricature he has become with the Titans if he had been the Voice of the Vols. His original style was very professional.

As a fan, whenever I'm forced to listen to opposing teams announcers, usually during baseball, I find it extremely unprofessional when they are straight homers. I'd like it to be pulled back just a tad.
I don’t find it unprofessional but that’s me. Georgia’s Munson was probably the biggest homer ever and he is a legend. Everyone should expect it with the other teams announcers. After all they are there trans announcers. Ledford,Munson,Ward and many others, now they called it fair but if they thought it was a bad call they would let you know it. Most folks want some homer in their guy!GBO

MK had already left Knoxville and was the voice of the Titans for a year when Ward retired. If the timing had been 1 year different, he would have been it in a no-brainer. I think he was approached, but he didn't want to bail on the Titans after just 1 year. I would love it if he came home and finished his career as the voice of the Vols. I used to listen to him, John, and Jimmy on the radio back in college. They were my first introduction to sports talk radio.

I’m not a huge fan of the screaming. Don’t have to do that to be enthusiastic. Somewhere between Mike Keith and bob kesling is the sweet spot haha

Brent Hubbs

Brent Hubbs was on 105 The Zone and said that Danny White has to decide whether the next Vol broadcaster has to be a promoter and has to contend with You Tube and podcasters for clicks and eyeballs. You can hear and watch this interview with Will, Kayla and Ramon on the 105 The Zone You Tube page.

I actually typed that while listening and driving up Pennyrile Pky to work. I think he fits the bill for the new VOTV.

I agree... if he's hired, I won't listen to him... grating, irritating and arrogant.
100% agree, hire Mike and I'm out. For a long time I've muted the Gray Danielsons of TV and paired the DVR up with Bob. Maybe that's why I never got in a twist about every little mistake Bob said. I can't imagine listening to Mike screech against the backdrop of a TV broadcast.

Yes, and Rice has successfully replaced the legendary Mickey Dearstone. So, replacing Kesling should be a piece of cake.
