What an interesting question. Depending on each person't criteria for how they define "greatest" the answers will vary greatly.

There are a ton of players whose contributions deserve consideration: Atkins, Manning, White, Holloway, Cafego, Feather, Majors, etc., etc.

Then there folks like Majors & Fulmer that played at a high level and coached the Vols to high levels.

General Neyland really got this ball rolling with his efforts as a coach. However, the additions to the stadium over the years were his ideas as well. Plus, he went on to become AD.

Finally, you have Big Jim Haslam, who played for Neyland and through his generosity has donated countless millions to the university.

Who is the Greatest Vol of All-time? I have no idea.

Peyton, hands down. He's not only a phenomenal, and possibly once-in-a-lifetime player, he's been such an awesome representative and ambassador for the university. That's something that you don't see much of anymore, from anyone.

Thank you, zero-sum. Bob Suffridge, Tennessee's only THREE-TIME ALL-AMERICAN, simply has to be considered in any poll of greatest Vols of all-time. Frankly, Neyland's legacy towers, to this day, over that of any player that has ever worn the Orange and White.
