Milton is a paper tiger...while he’s physically gifted and probably a swell teammate off the field, there is something missing between the ears. If the argument against rolling with Iamalaeva from here onward is that our OL sucks and he'll get injured, could it be that his speed can help avoid that as well as mitigate the OL's deficiencies?

Start Nico or Joe? If coach isn't going to serious roll with Nico or give him tons of meaningful playing time, please redshirt him. There is absolutely zero reason to waste a year of eligibility with him sitting on the sidelines.

Our worst nightmare is that he transfers.....
Joe. Nico will be giving up $8million to transfer. He's hurt also. Joe is not the main problem. He has issues but he's not why we lost last night either.

If Nico was better than Milton right now he'd be starting already. That doesn't mean Nico won't be really good, but true freshmen have a HUGE learning curve going from high school to the SEC. We don't want to throw him to the wolves like we did Guarantano and break him mentally too. Guarantano's internal clock was permanently broken by those early beatings he took. If Heupel thought Nico was capable of saving the season, he'd already have played. It's probably best to ride with Milton, see if he can figure it out, he's got several games at home to play. If we've got 3 or more losses after Bama, let's start the transition in a way that tries to set him up for success.

In year 3 of coaching why and how would your OL suck and not have proper depth? I'm in no way advocating for coaching change talk (yet), but this is a horrendous issue and inexcusable really

That's a great question...and honestly, I wonder the same thing. Same goes for the other main problem unit (DBs).

Joe beat Clemson with the help of the rest of the team so there is that. Nico needs to get ready, redshirt, or filling if Joe is injured. Worst case is Nico injured and affects the rest of his life….not transferring.

Nico might start at some point this season, but it is not yet time for that.
What? Why? The only legit experience comes from playing in real football games. This is the absolute perfect opportunity. If the Vols can't beat UTSA with just the running game, the entire season is gone. Trot Nico out there and let him run the offense and use the whole game as his debut.

What game would you wait for A&M or USCjr?

Milton had to get hurt for Hooker to sniff the field last season. CJH will start him if it means a 3 win season. But I see mucho more problems than QB selection.

If Joe could play QB and block for himself, and switch over to defense and tackle some running backs, and play a little defensive backfield, we probably would have won the game.
Yes, but a good QB would have the folks around him putting forth a little more effort maybe, so that he can be effective.. I wasn’t there, but it sure did not look like they were trying to help him out any until at the end.. maybe I am misinterpreting

exactly. Continued self inflicted penalties and errors + some really bad calls...but even w/o bad calls, we're not winning that game.

Microcosm of the game was 4th and 3 with like 7 minutes left and we probably had the outside chance to get the ball twice to maybe score and pull out a miracle, but we jumped and got the ball back with 3 minutes left and already wasted 2 TO's to time management by Milton.

There needs to be serious coaching changes. Not Heupel but assistants. After watching his post game, Heupel seemed very frustrated. I think some of that was about the assistants.

Best answer. This is the SEC. Takes more than 2 seasons to build a roster to compete with the uppers. (FL is another story.)

If you think QB play lost that game, I'm not sure where to start.

The pitchfork crowd won’t want to hear this, but Milton wasn’t as bad in this game as they want to believe.

He made a very poor decision that led to a very bad pick. But his O Line deserves some blame there, too.

But, he was 20-34, 287 yds, 2 TDs and the pick. Given the O Line problems, those are respectable numbers.

Downside…the offense didn’t close several drives with points. Milton deserves some criticism, but the rest of the unit does too, along with some very suspect officiating.

Finally, the atrocious defense in the first half was the main problem in this game.
