You can't apply that logic if you look at Heupel history. The ONLY reason Hooker started when he did, was due to Milton's injury. Hooker was CLEARLY the better QB.

Hooker wasn't a true freshman either. With a few exceptions, the history of the conference is generally that it's pretty damn rough on true freshmen. In the recent past, Guarantano took such a beating in his early outings thar he lost all sense of when to get rid of the ball. His internal clock was broken for good. That's happened in the NFL too with rookies. You don't want to push a young quarterback out there too early, especially not one who we have as much hope for the future riding on as we do Nico.
