I voted no.

I was way too harsh on JJJ, who has stepped his game up tremendously, basically since I posted.

I actually wasn't too harsh on Barnes. He's recruiting at a level we've never had at Tennessee, his defensive scheme is proven, players develop under him, and his offensive scheme was getting plenty of wide open looks. We simply have games where no one can find their shot.

Knock on wood, it looks like I was incorrect - never been happier about that.

Some more groundbreaking stuff from ole jimmy

One of those stats is actually kind of nuts. We’re 13-1 when we shoot 29% from 3??? That kind of tells you just how pathetic we shot in the other 5 losses. Damn. Hopefully we can find continue this consistency from the past 2 games and go on a run.

The saying if you live by the 3 sometimes you die by the 3 is accurate

It is hard to see how we are favored to beat Auburn, even at home. I just don't see it.

Could we win? Of course, but I don't see how we could be favored.

Maybe not, but Auburn is going to lose some. They've been flirting with it too much. It would be some sweet payback to blow them out at TBA and with some other loses blowing their chance to win the SEC outright like they did to us in 2019.

Nothing would make my year more than if it turns out Auburn peaked way too early and they end the year on a whimper.

This has become the nature of College Basketball. Look at Alabama. That is the reason they can win @ Gonzaga and beat Baylor but lose to Georgia. The game is coming down to how well teams are shooting the 3-pointer on a given night.

We kind of have the same problem on our end. When we are on, we can beat most of the teams in the country but when we are off, we can lose to anyone. This is why defense is being emphasized to hopefully keep us in the game when we are not on.

Yep, just thought about this before seeing your post. Alabama has shot under 30% from 3 in several of their losses. Shot 10% against UK.

Don’t you mean we can lose to anyone in quadrant 1?

I know Tennessee has been up and down.

However right now Tennessee is favored to win each of the remaining games. How likely is it that Tennessee would lose 5 and win just 3 or fewer? Seriously?

As I posted above Tennessee has an 85% chance or better to win 4 of those games.

I don’t “think” Tennessee wins them all; however it’s very unlikely Tennessee will lose 5.
download.jpg You are right. I need to be more optimistic about our team. Then of course I hear about Nkamhoua out for the season and I start being a Debbie Downer again.

Can this team get to 20 wins? The schedule ahead looks pretty nightmare-ish. Today was demoralizing. Not sure if the Vols can muster up 20 wins this season.....

This by far is my favorite post and forum this year!

Funny to reflect on the complete overreaction to the early season (tough!) road losses, etc. We are watching a very, very good Tennessee team this year. I'm excited we will be definitely getting 20 wins and maybe a lot more!

Keep wearing your orange shaded sunglasses and supporting a coach that if Not for inheriting Admiral Schofield , probably would have already been fired. As I stated earlier today, Grant and Admiral are to Barnes as Dobbs was to Butch Jones. Without either of those players, Barnes has done nothing , just like Butch without Dobbs
I know Barnes is a terrible coach. He only guarantees us a chance to make a run at the tournament every year. Fire em! So we can get some unproven mid major coach so we can suck again!

Kevin Punter more than doubled his point production in Barnes’ first year. Admiral was chubby and out of shape, and quite frankly was not very good his first two seasons but Barnes helped develop him into doubling his point production within a couple seasons and turned him into a good shooter. Jordan Bone was a bad shooter and Barnes developed him. I remember Grant was an awful free throw shooter his freshman year but Barnes developed him. His biggest success imo is Kyle Alexander. He improved his FG% roughly 25 points between his freshman season to his junior season and turned him into a viable starting center in the SEC. So yeah I guess Rick Barnes doesn’t do a lot for this program, other than develop all his players’ weaknesses and make them better players. Which is what a coach is suppose to do. Rick Barnes is 100x the coach that Butch Jones is.

18 wins unless BHH starts playing 25-30 minutes a game, minimum
🤣🤣🤣🤣Adioo is fixing too see his minutes go up. I am not going to harp on HH he is young and has talent but he has MILES to go before he can be really make a bigger impact. By next year if he works hard, folks expectations for him this year need to be curbed. But hopefully he will get there. GBO!
