The staff could choose to avoid the portal altogether and only concern themselves with players recruited by tradional means. Not sure that would work out so well for us fans. Times change but many times not for the better.

in today's game, teams that are not active in the portal will become an afterthought...........

That’s how it’s played now bud. If they didn’t go after portal players and sucked then you would whine even harder

By the way a ton of the big contributors on this team are going to be guys who have been around their whole career - Beam and Russell as starting pitchers, Burke and Moore as middle of order guys, the outfield trio of Ensley/Dreiling/Tears are going to play big roles whether they start or not and the bullpen has plenty of guys who have been around like Wyatt evans, Kirby, Zander

Plus young guys who didn’t contribute a ton last year who will probably factor in next year like Jake Kendro, Reese Chapman, Hunter Sloop, Behnke

And then program guys who might have some limited roles but are great to have around and can fill specific needs like Ethan Payne and Charlie Taylor. Plus who knows what happens to Kyle Booker (I think he ultimately transfers)

Any way you slice it the majority of the team is made up of guys who have been around

Maybe 1 more slot to fill on the pitching side of things. But the bases should be covered and cleaned up with the hitter part of things. Looks like another really exciting year ahead of the VOLS !!!

Does anyone remember the list someone posted in this thread which had the players listed in numerical order according to Top 10 transfers?
