Portal Activity (News and Rumors)

I know Merritt was a one-year guy, but I really enjoyed getting to know him through all his interviews, etc. Man, what an outstanding guy. Glad we got to experience that.
Agreed. He was a very mature grad transfer that wanted a shot at a championship before entering Dental School. He was a ”pro”. Glad we had a chance to get to know him.

Should be required reading for the VolNation baseball forum.

No. He didn’t. That’s not an opinion. He was shoved out of bounds by a defensive player. It’s on film. He was in bounds. A defender hits him. He goes out of bounds with the hit. Saying he ran out of bounds, insinuating that he’d rather lose than get hit, is verifiably false. The fact that people continue to argue this undeniable fact reflect how badly some of our “fans” enjoy eating their own.
Where was he going to go? He stopped and they bumped him out of bounds. You act like he was making a play if it wasn’t for the push. He tucked the ball and sidestepped to the sideline.

My opinion. You’re welcome to a different one but think it’s highly unlikely Galanie steps foot on campus.
Mathematical probability is your opinion? What are you the FED?

The fact that he might not make it on campus is a completely reasonable opinion for you to form. That is certainly possible. Maybe even likely. But saying it's less than 1% is not an opinion. Certainly no issue with someone thinking he might sign with an mlb team though.

well, there’s a 0% chance that I agree with you. That’s definitely not an opinion, it’s a fact. 😃🍊

He did give up on the play whether he stepped out or was bumped - but that play seems to have changed him. I am very high on the new version of Milton. He was trucking over people last year.

Hard To believe burns major means anything unless it’s credits toward graduation eligibility under a microscope. What that kid majors in matters not

You are mistaken. He ran out of bounds to avoid a hit. Facts are factx

Unless he’s smart and thinking life outside of baseball……I think the kids has a good head on his shoulders and realizes that a degree has importance no matter how big a signing bonus may be

Reread an interview with Ryan Galanie. I now believe he will sign with a MLB club. He says his goal has always been to play professionally and he has been transparent with schools recruiting him.

He says he expects to be drafted on day two ( rounds 3-10). My problem was I thought he expected to be drafted in the first few rounds. I was wrong! He says he has been told he will be a cost saving option for some club because he is 23 and has no leverage. He does say if the cost saving angle appears like he is being taken advantage of he will go to Tennessee.

He didn't play for the CCBL Kettlers last night. Perhaps getting ready for the draft.

I think Dalton Bargo is a replacement for Galanie's slot. Bargo plays other infield positions other than catcher. Found an obscure article about the most promising athletes at Missouri. Dalton Bargo was listed as Missouri's most promising baseball prospect. Bargo has three years to play college ball and Galanie only had one. We could still get them both but if not Bargo will be a great player at Tennessee.

I find the degree stuff about Burns to be a load of garbage. If his credits wouldn’t transfer to TCU, why would they transfer to Vandy, a school known for being difficult to get into and difficult for transfer credits to stick? Even Corbin has said academics at Vandy might make working the portal harder for them.

I think Burns ends up at Vandy, but it won’t be because he couldn’t get eligible at TCU.

He’s going to need a college degree after pro ball. He’s a great student and losing 1/3 of your credits is a lot to makeup post baseball career.
