Portal Activity (News and Rumors)

I find the degree stuff about Burns to be a load of garbage. If his credits wouldn’t transfer to TCU, why would they transfer to Vandy, a school known for being difficult to get into and difficult for transfer credits to stick? Even Corbin has said academics at Vandy might make working the portal harder for them.

I think Burns ends up at Vandy, but it won’t be because he couldn’t get eligible at TCU.
I think it is irrelevant because who cares about a degree right now when you can make millions as a player. He can always go back to school on his own nickel if a degree is truly important.

LSU baseball working the academic side to ensure his major is offered at LSU.

I’ve confirmed that Burns’ major is only offered at LSU (and UT obviously)—it’s not offered at TCU or Vanderbilt. He’s a smart young man and knows he will need a college degree after his MLB career is over. Plus, he needs to be eligible right away so I think it’s LSU (or a remote chance that he comes back to TN). I prefer the latter! 🍊😃👍👊😀🍊

I'd really like to put the "Burns " thing to bed. The kid either wasn't satisfied with his role at TN and/or he feels like he can improve his draft stock elsewhere. If he's on the roster come February, great, otherwise he's an opposing pitcher when/if he faces us I hope we drop a crooked number on him every inning. No ill will, just between-the-lines baseball.

You are mistaken. He ran out of bounds to avoid a hit. Facts are factx

This is the video. And the still shot below it is Joe Milton, in bounds, literally getting hit by the defender who knocked him out of bounds…with this hit.

This isn’t difficult. Engaging in mental gymnastics to justify a false narrative that y’all want to pursue in order to disparage your own player is pathetic. And mendacious. The truth is right there.

And a couple frames later…the result of the collision.

But yeah, he just “stepped” out of bounds. 🙄

I don't think this video supports your assertion.

I posted a still shot below the video.

If you disagree, you’re blind. More than likely, you, like others, are unwilling to admit you’re wrong.
Or...you won't or are unable to recognize that he did not have situational awareness in the heat of battle. Happens to the best of us. This has been litigated to death...your myopia is not proof of concept. Also...wrong forum..you're situational awareness is suspect.

Even though LSU offers his major, he could have a hard time transferring there due to their notoriously rigorous academic stan… sorry, couldn’t get through it with a straight face

Tony’s great at recruiting…but he can’t keep them. A couple more Vols about to hit the portal.

Side Note: No way Burns returns. I suspect he’s visiting schools in the SEC/ACC/Big 12 and I’ll bet it’s huge $. Decision has to be made by July 31 I believe.

Why keep anyone who's not contributing to the success of the program? Burns would be the only real loss. Rest are boat Anchors.

Expected. At this point, this is now how rosters will be built, turned over and tweaked. What I'd love to be privy to is how the staff evaluates the roster at the end of a season and how they identify players they want to target in the portal. I'd have to assume it's a kid they recruited at some point so they know them pretty well. Or watching a kid play against us and how he handles situations and interacts with his teammates. Just fascinating how they approach and handle so many variables especially in the NIL era.

TCU does offer Sports Management. It’s not an uncommon major.

Not sure if Recreation & Sports Management at UT is different than Sports Mgmt. At TCU.

It’s got to be about transferable hours if you guys are talking about something legit

He needs 40% of the degree completed to be eligible and that’s at his new place. Tcu may not take some of tenn classes

That sounds like a more realistic explanation.
