Isn’t 11.7 being done away with soon too?
With the NIL being available, I don't understand why this is still a problem? It's equalized the playing field with vandy and their "endowment" program. Why can't they cover a full ride for the baseball players? Is it that the decision makers won't spend on a "lessor sport" like baseball and the money is earmarked primarily for football and a bit for hoops? Just seems odd that we're still dealing with the 11.7 limit in the NIL era.

Guys that were just numbers and got kicked to the curb….

yea we get it .,
Some of you guys seem to take this personally, did this happen to you as a kid. Or maybe your kid?
If a coach has an opportunity to better his team should he just pass that opportunity up so Johnny can play?
This happens at all levels and in life.
Everyone is replaceable, including the coach if he's not producing at a level of his competition.
Life sometimes is tough, but you learn to deal with it and move forward.

Really nice listening to basilio and ben mckee podcast about baseball this time of the yr...appreciate them and others coverage this time of the year...
McKee is solid. Until Basilio stops stuffing his face on air and shows some professionalism, nope. Heck, half his show is nothing but commercials. One would think he'd stuff his face and do his belching during those ample opportunities. Nah, there are way too many professionals doing quality podcasts to waste time on his schtick.

Agreed. In every sport, recruiting is something of a crap shoot. You just don't know how a kid will respond to taking such a large step up from HS to the SEC. From academics to the demands of the sport at this level, it's a big change. Some just aren't what they were assumed to be when they were evaluated in HS. Fortunately, there's the portal so they can actually find a place that suits them better. You can argue that the coaches need to be better at evaluation, but it's far from an exact science.

I had no idea our top players were disenchanted. Why can't this happen to another top team?
I feel pretty sure this type of situation happens to most every high-caliber team. Lots of movement to and from for these programs. Kevin O’Sullivan lamented on SEC Network his many “dugout problems” with his players. It’s not unique to Tennessee, but when a highly visible player is involved, focus intensifies on that player/team.

Most Baseball players still leave with lots of college debt. NIL primarily goes to football and basketball with a few exceptions. 11.7 needs to change.

I think it would be eye opening for you guys to see the “survival list” of the classes TV is bringing in. It’s sad actually

Kendro is still an option.
Kendro. Also bringing in a good JUCO who could get drafted and some freshmen.
I was unaware of a juco option. Kendro OTOH is pretty young. Risky to go with youth at such an important position. Not saying he's not ready. Don't know, but if Jaslove departs, I suspect that will be confirmation that TV has the answer.

My opinion is all the major sports at Universities should be full scholarships.Football Basketball Baseball and even Softball all should get full rides.

And, again, this is happening across college sports and it’s also not exclusive to the transfer portal era. This is not a “TV” problem. It’s also just a side effect of TV elevation our program from 2017 until now. Certain players just struggle to compete at this level and need to find a home where they can play.

Definitely not the first. When my father in law was alive, he would let us play nine holes of golf with his buddies and then tell them I’m a preacher. It was amazing how the conversation turned quickly. He always thought it was funny.
A few years back, we actually had a retired minister join our foursome. He played in our group until his death from Covid but it definitely cleaned up our language during the round. He would always say a prayer when we were on the first tee, but he had no problem pissing on a tree or bush when the urge hit him :cool::cool:. We actually got him to participate in our money game :):) that's when I knew he was one of us

No better and no worse. Attrition happens at every top program in all sports.

it’s worse than Nearly everyone. and with us seemingly taking even more portal guys than the other high class signing programs it’s getting worse. It’s simple math. When class sizes are higher the survival rate is going down

Arkansas is the similar comp to us. Are they taking as many portal guys ??

TV is such a disgrace to baseball. He is everything wrong with society today. Embarrassed to have him running our program and taking us to Omaha consistently.

thanks

tv got it honest that’s for sure
A&M leads the SEC with 8 transfers in…….numbers will change after the draft and I’ll compile a list afterwards. I get your point, it’s not CTV, it’s the system we live in. That’s what happens when you recruit 8th graders…..which has now changed going forward as it’s August of your junior year to recruit off campus. The days of staying 3/4 years at a school is basically over, not saying I like it however I like the fact our coach is taking the rules given to him and making the best out of it. Sucks for players and parents, but CTV likes his paycheck as well as numerous other coaches around the league

Would you rather take a kid for 1 season that is a proven contributor from a program like Clemson or have 3 years of a kid and hopefully get 2, if you are lucky 1, productive season out of him? The high school kids are no guarantee to produce but if you take a kid from a Power 5 program that put up big numbers, I am taking him all day even if it is only for 1 season. Any smart coach is going to take the proven commodity whenever your job depends on your players producing annually.
