so a lifetime mlb average of 262 with over 2400 hits struggles at the plate🤣🤣
your lunacy knows no bounds

You might want to consider Ozzie’s slugging % if you want to get into the meat and potatoes of this conversion. Ozzie was a singles hitter and not a great one at that in his era.

Btw I love Ozzie just not the kind of hitter TV needs at Lindsey Nelson

I believe Tony and Elander are working SS transfer from ASU Luke Hill very hard and are on a short list for him. But I do not believe that TN leads. Heard he more or less has his mind made up but vols hoping to get him on campus at least

He wanted to go to LSU, but they won't take him. Instead, sounds like he is Ole Miss bound early on at least.

Jaslove only had 28 at bats in OOC play prior to SEC play beginning. Not a large enough sample size so not sure how anyone could definitively say he wouldn’t hit .250 in SEC. I will say his D was spectacular but who really knows if his bat would have sufficed. Hope we find some great options at SS as that’s the only big ? in the lineup.
This is gonna be my last post on jaslove because it’s getting a little repetitive, and while you might be right it’s not out of the question he eventually turns into a good hitter, the reality is that TN didn’t just see him in those 28 ABs. He’s had 3 years of fall ball, they have a pretty good idea of who the next group of good players is (Reese Chapman is one btw). He’s moving on because he knows the chance of him ever playing a big role here is very very small and he would know that because Tony doesn’t hide that from these kids which is very respectable.

You can’t really use the small sample size for the bats and ignore it for the glove. He gave his all for tennessee, he just isn’t quite physically talented enough as a hitter and that’s okay - very few are. I hope he kills it at his next destination. But there’s a reason why mid way through the year when Ahuna had to miss a game it was Kendro who started and not jaslove. Kendro had passed him by mid season, and they have 3-4 newcomers that they feel are already ahead of Kendro. So writing was kind of on the wall imo

Haven’t heard anything about the lsu but that’s interesting, but yes I believe he will be headed to OM unless Tony can get him on campus. If he sets a visit with the vols then watch out.

Also I believe they are trying very hard to get the Stanford kid on a visit, but I’m not sure I would expect too much traction there

Seems a little weird to me lsu wouldn’t take a kid like this only because of Braswell. They need a 2B too and this kid is better than Braswell anyways. I do know lsu really really loves a kid they had pitching last year but as a SS. Guidry. He just happened to also have a nasty arm and they needed pitching help so they let him do that while Thompson had SS on lock

Anyways, I expect the kid to end up at OM, but I do think vols are trying to get a visit and if they get one then I love their chances

Okay well the point clearly went over your head. Of course he’s going to care about defense in a SS, but he’s not going to play a dude who might hit sub .200 just to get defense out there

And nobody is saying Ahuna was an offensive first player, his defense was better than his offense. But he absolutely was still a good offensive player

Fair.

JMO, but I think between those players we could possibly see our SS and our 2B. Even if Denton comes back, not sure he could play 2B, and I think CMo's future is in the OF.
Where would Denton play then? I’m fairly certain Amick is going to be at 3rd.

Not sure. We're just assuming he's coming back to begin with. I like Denton as a player, but I do wonder if it's better for our numbers if he signs a FA deal. Not enough spots and too many players deserving of a spot could be bad for team chemistry.

I would be careful before locking too many guys into positions right now. Ultimately they’ll use fall to get guys in the spots that allow them to get the 9 best hitters out there.

If Denton is back (again I’m not shocked if he takes a FA deal) I think they’ll try him at 2B and see how that goes. It’s also possible he just DH’s. Amick is penciled on at 3B but he’s going to have to earn it with his play in fall camp. Amick’s bat is so good that he’s 100% going to be in the lineup somewhere, but his position will be sorted out in fall. He’s not always been heralded as the best defender in the aorld

But ultimately if they have to substitute a little defense for offense they definitely will do that. Just how the college game is going these days

Do you know what Ole Miss has at SS with Gonzalez gone? I do not. I would think we are worth a look having a proven staff and a team with the one hole on the roster being the one he plays
