Ensley is pretty rangy honestly. Not sure on chapman I can ask my buddy what he thinks but not sure he’s really seen him play much either. I’m sure they’ll give it a try. Brayden Sharp incoming freshman has a ton of range and will get a shot at CF too, but he’s also gonna be pitching

No I don’t. I know their 2B left too so I imagine their middle infield is wide open.

TN has talked to this kid and are maybe trying to get him on campus according to Ben McKee, but according to me I think they actually like what they have coming in and I’m not sure a kid like this will want to come compete with some big prospects over taking a surefire gig. JMO

Is Holman the last big pitcher in the portal? Are we pursuing any other arms? Or, if Holman picks LSU, will we just find our third starter from the current roster or one of the recruits?

I’m not sure if you have a connection to Jaslove or something and if you do I hope you know nothing said is meant personally, but the fact is that he had very little chance of ever having a regular role here. And that’s not a bad thing, this level is just damn near impossible to compete at. A guy can work his ass off as I’m sure jaslove did and still not be quite good enough. He will go down a little bit in competition level and get a chance to show what he can do in a full time role

Holman is the last big name I’m aware of. The Stanford kid they are also after but 1) he’s a 2-way guy who I don’t think is a good enough pitcher to beat out what we already have and 2) id be pretty surprised if we got him anyways

If we don’t land Holman we still have a clear ace in Beam, and Russell is a future probable first round draft pick who is ready for a starting role. The 3rd starter would like come down to Matthew Dallas and Wyatt evans. Evans is a guy they were super high on and thought he was a future starter before he sat out last year. Assuming he’s healthy and same as pre-arm soreness he’d be a high level sunday guy. Matthew dallas is a guy who turned down 7 figures last week to come here and who I believe will be the Sunday guy. Obviously you never know with freshmen but this kid has performed on big stages and once upon a time we trotted out a rotation that was 2/3 freshmen and had the best regular season maybe ever.

Obviously you land Holman and that’s huge news, but even if they don’t they’re going to be just fine on arms

I still think they land Holman, but obviously things can change this week as he heads to Starkville and Baton Rouge after knoxville.

And Ben McKee says they’re definitely in it for SS Luke Hill. Not necessarily what I heard but I would definitely trust Ben over me. I think I personally would be surprised if we got luke hill because I don’t think we feel we need him as desperately as other schools, but if Ben says we’re still trying then we definitely are. So that should be good news for those who are worried about SS

Ensley may get better at CF after starting there for a year. Those plays on which he struggled this post season (forget which games) where he dove instead of knocking it down should get corrected with experience.

Baton Rouge kid. Had envisioning any landing spot for him other than LSU. Would be a pleasant surprise though.

Yep I agree the only times he really struggled were those two mental errors (I think it was against southern miss), and those were just that - mental errors.

All in all he was good this year and because he and Scott could cover so much ground it allowed them to throw Dickey in the OF. They shaded Ensley towards LF

I’m also not sure who on this roster would overtake Ensley in CF unless they try CMo there and he is just a really natural CF. Brayden Sharp is the other name to keep an eye on, but I’d doubt a true freshman is unseating Ensley.

Imo Ensley is actually a very solid player and this year he should be more of a bottom of the order guy (where he is a strength) rather than a top of the order guy where he was somewhat average in comparison

TN talked to what kid? Gonzalez was a 1st rounder this year who signed and Chatagnier (Ole Miss 2B) is at TCU now.

I think the vols are more of a player with Hill than I initially thought. I’m still not sure I’d expect him to end up here but sounds definitely possible. Would be penciled in as starter at SS day 1 of fall ball, but I’m also not sold he’s better than all 4 of the newcomers.

Regardless, if he’s willing to come you take him for sure

Luke Hill. Yes ole miss has major holes in the middle infield which is why I think he will end up there. But it sounds like he’s gonna take his time and maybe visit some other places first

Very interesting. I guess I just assumed it was a forgone conclusion that he was going to LSU but I’d love if he were a Vol.

I think that’s where he wanted to go but lsu didn’t want him.

Or at the very least were transparent enough that he wouldn’t start for them and he looked elsewhere

Only one of the two was a bad play. Even Kyle Peterson said the 2nd one was just an (aggressive play that he had no problem with considering the situation”. Ensley is a very good CFer.

LSU has depth. Guidry is penciled in as the starter is my understanding. I think it's more a reflection of that depth than Hill's ability or lack thereof
