If Burns is truly pissed about the bullpen move I'm not sure what to make that.
He became a dominant force out of the pen, something he had lost in the rotation.
Seemed like a great move to me.

Another interesting point Evan brought up was that this is two straight seasons Burns has been moved to the pen.

He was sent there when Tidwell returned last season, as well, and then presumably promised a return to the starting lineup this season.

Then he gets pushed to the pen again with presumably a promise to return to the starting lineup, again, next season.

There is a good chance that, right or wrong, he has lost trust in this staff to keep their word. And in that sense, I kind of sympathize with his position a little more if that is the case. I don't think Tony V is a distrustful person, necessarily, and the situations dictated the moves to the pen. They weren't personal decisions. Burns just seems to have been caught up in the middle of it two years running, and his feelings are hurt. That reminder of it happening last year makes his position a little more understandable.

He was briefly in the pen in 2021, as was Beam, and Burns was better than Beam in the pen.
But, they let Burns start the last ND game. I agree that Burns might be concerned that if he struggles to begin next season, he’d end up in the pen again.

Tennessee is probably just holding the paperwork on Chase Burns until after the CWS. TN has until to until tomorrow to turn it in since weekends don't count against the 48 Hours. Don’t want to have Tennessee pitcher Chase Burns transferring running across the bottom of the screen during the championship game tonight. Also don’t want to have it talked about during the broadcast.

Very good idea on the UTAD part if true. After CWS, it will only be news to hardcore baseball fans. Which is preferable.

Defense trumps offense. On the other hand, you can't put up with NO offense for very long from a corner outfielder.

Say why you want about Basilio regarding Football, but he is clearly plugged in on baseball. I take most of what he says with a huge grain of salt, but if there is one program he has some inroads, it is the baseball program. Some basketball insight, as well.

Tony also said for fans to keep their cup on. Given the Burke chatter, I won’t be surprised if he leaves for a team closer to home, maybe. This was a frustrating year for him.

He’s where I got my doomer views on Tony and LSU from. He said in 2021 if LSU offered, he was gone. Luckily they didn’t offer, but many posters think he turned LSU down. So they’ll never believe anything Basilio says

If I left my job for another one and told my boss I didn't want to discuss it further, would I be ghosting him if I quit answering when he calls to try and talk me into staying?

Seriously, he gained more national notoriety after the Clemson and USM games then he ever did as a starter

Not, gonna lie. 20 years of Basilio has taught me a lot. Mainly that he's a 1 trick pony who throws sh#t against the wall and occasionally some of it sticks.

If they reverse the schedules for next year from this year, Burns would have to come back to LNS if he goes to Arky or LSU. Kinda makes sense going to Vandy (we would play there next year) or TCU. He could avoid the "friendly reception" he's sure to get with the other two.

That said, I hope he stays.

Sorry but I truly think he is going to TCU,but whatever he decides to do I will always remember his great contributions he done for this fine Institution.

He and Tony Vols are friends and he is on the show occasionally

If Burke leaves, I’d imagine it’s more homesick than anything else. The sophomore slump is a normal thing, he can’t blame that on UT.
