Not, gonna lie. 20 years of Basilio has taught me a lot. Mainly that he's a 1 trick pony who throws sh#t against the wall and occasionally some of it sticks.
Throws **** against the wall be kinda messy wouldn't it. Maybe he is just a great insider???? LolšŸ¤”

Obviously Burke can hit it to the moon when he makes contact.
However I'm not sure he's ever seen a pitch he would not take a hack at.

It's all semantics at this point.
If I left my job for another one and told my boss I didn't want to discuss it further, would I be ghosting him if I quit answering when he calls to try and talk me into staying?

Yeah, "ghosting" is a strong term. I don't know the specifics of what was said. Perhaps it would be best to simply say that it's been reported that Burns hasn't been communicating to Vitello/UT recently.

Well 80% of posters did call for Burke to be benched the last month, so this would be a good thing right ?!
I definitely thought a little break wouldn't be the worst thing. The only thing is what was a better option at 1B? I couldn't think of one and maybe the coach couldn't either. He thought he had a better option for a starting pitcher so he went with it and he was right. There was no comparison between Burns four SEC starts and Lindsey's six.

Burns 12.11 ERA on 17.1 IP 4 games
Lindsey 2.9 ERA on 34 IP 6 games

To be fair, our league schedule was tougher overall in the first half.
But, that is a big disparity in stats.

Yikes. Those numbers for Burns are worse than I remembered.

I'm not a baseball scout, but to me, the Clemson game, third USM game, and Stanford game are more impressive performances than if Burns had started those games and produced the same numbers. His production in terms of IP was like a starter in those games, but he did it without knowing in advance what games he would pitch in or when during those games or for how long.
I suppose he had the advantage of opposing hitters not centering their preparation on him, but opposing coaches surely had a scout on Burns.

Perhaps Burns assumes he can showcase himself as a Friday starter at another school. He is looking into the future financially,if he still ends up as a number 3 or 4 starter in MLB his contract will still be more than a closer or middle reliever. Don't forget that 1st round signing bonus also for him as a starter,Dollander began year as a solid #3or 4 pick in draft and with a somewhat subpar year still is projected #20 in round one.

That more than anything is what makes me think "those close to Burns" might include some very, very poor/inept advisors who don't have his best interests at heart.
Interestingly enough, Vayner Sports represents 3 very prominent college baseball players. They happen to be Burns, Dollander, and LSUā€™s very own Tommy White. Thereā€™s the connection. The MLB draft puts a much higher premium on starting pitchers vs relievers. To be a starting Pitcher in MLB, ideally you need 3 or 4 pitches. Relievers can get by with 2.

Burns has primarily been a fastball and slider but has been working on improving his curve and changeup. If heā€™s able to show command of the curve and changeup as a starter, his draft slot value and signing bonu$ will increase rather dramatically IMHO.

Just to be clear, Alston wasnā€™t about a constitutional issue ā€” it was about statutory antitrust law. And it doesnā€™t stand for this proposition: No one has the right to tell anyone in this country that they canā€™t make money when someone is willing to pay them for their services or likeness. There is a sense in which that is true, I suppose, but there are plenty of circumstances in which one party does have the ability to require that another person not accept certain payments for services, etc. (For instance, any old employer could require as a condition of employment that their employees (in many roles, anyway) not also be getting paid to provide services to a competitor.)

In any case, it isnā€™t a constitutional issue (and nobody is or can be forced to play college sports), so it seems plenty fair to discuss college sports NIL as a public policy issue.

It is a constitutional issue. The Supreme Court granted cert. Their role is to determine if statutory law conflicts with our constitution. If itā€™s not a constitutional issue, SCOTUS canā€™t hear the matter.

Youā€™re correct that the exact ruling didnā€™t say No one has the right to tell anyone in this country that they canā€™t make money when someone is willing to pay them for their services or likeness, because the ruling was limited by the scope of the issues before the court, but the language/dicta in the ruling (Kavanaughā€™s concurrence specifically) was a shot across the bow that, in other contexts, the anti-trust ruling would still hold. The message to the NCAA was loud and clear that their practices were anti-trust violations.

As fans, it really makes no difference. Calling for Burke to be benched is in the fans view and more than likely not the Coach's view. Burns struggles may have been a number of things and his change in roles on the team may have been good for him and the team. We don"t know because nobody will ever talk about it because it is unprofessional to do so. Plus, no one wants to burn bridges. Looking at the numbers above as a coach I would have benched him as well and used him in the role as a closer. This move was wise and Burns should be glad he was able to do so. Who knows what will happen next. I am sure they are on the same sheet as far as his future is concerned. Burns, was a Freshman last year, the point being with the Portal and young guns anybody is replaceable. I like Burns, hope he stays, but he can be replaced. No need to fret.

Is there any legs to this Burke leaving that I'm seeing written on here?

That's good info. I assumed it was the typical family member pushing their own interests.

If its the agents, well, that's the world we're in now.
