If he goes to LSU is there a chance Tony points the NCAA in their direction?I’ll say this much, if he does go out of conference to TCU or some other school where he won’t play us, I’ll get over it quickly and it will be whatever. No harm, no foul. But if the tampering allegations are true, and he goes to LSU or Vandy and does Vitello and Anderson dirty like that….well I’ll just stop there.
Elijah is now playing for Trevecca in Nashville for the 2023 season. And time flies , he was drafted in 2018.I was kind of wondering how other Vols who portel'd or transfer'd out have done (please move or delete this post if this is not the proper thread) .
Elijah Pleasants went to DBU and was drafted in the 35th round of last years draft

J.D. McCracken went to Rice (great school btw)
Rice Owls
2023: Finished second on the team with 13 starts, 71.2 innings, and 58 strikeouts in his first extensive collegiate action… Closed the regular season strongly, posting a 3.29 ERA over his last two starts, highlighted by a C-USA Pitcher of the Week performance vs. FIU to set the stage for the Owls’ postseason-clinching win… Held the Panthers to a first-inning double over 7.2 innings while striking out six and walking just two… Retired 17 in a row at one point vs. the Panthers.. Struck out a season-high seven in five innings vs. DBU… Opened the year with a start vs. Louisiana in the opening series then made five appearances in relief before making a midweek start vs. Texas A&M on 3/8 where he was tagged with his first career loss… Worked 3.2 scoreless innings in relief vs. HCU on 3/12 and then returned to the starting rotation when C-USA play began… Made 10 starts in conference play, nine in the second spot in the rotation while opening the Middle Tennessee series… 1-3 with a 4.69 ERA in 10 conference starts (48, 44, 31, 25,21, 36)… Earned the win over UTSA on 3/25… Held righthanded hitters to a .226 average (40x177).

yep you are right, I missed that... I thought he was drafted last season. Says his folks were in the military so I reckon he is comfortable being a rolling stone. I always liked watching that young man pitch.Elijah is now playing for Trevecca in Nashville for the 2023 season. And time flies , he was drafted in 2018.
- VQ, CainAlright this stuff moves fast so I'll keep trying to get updates a couple of times a week.
Tony is headed back over to North Carolina to see target Luke Holman (RHP) this week at the USA Baseball National Collegiate Training Camp. He was there yesterday checking in on Drew Beam and Christian Moore. He will then head to the Cape Cod League to check in with Cannon Peebles (C).
The staff hopes to have Clemson transfer Billy Amick in tomorrow night.
Former Missouri Tiger Dalton Bargo (C) is a target. Frank was up to see him in Bristol (Appy League) on Sunday. He could visit later in the week.
IMO, Vols are still in good shape with Ryan Galanie (OF) and Nate Snead (RHP) as conversations are ongoing.
Zane Denton continues to go through the process and it's likely to drag out - as I mentioned in the chat last night.
Exactly my hope for LSU. I'd prefer a strong recruiting foundation and development with the portal bridging a gap between unexpected losses to the portal/draft and a coming of age of the kids we've recruited. Might not have the success LSU is having, but I'll feel better about the program in that we've built it the right way, kids stay with us and we can get to know them and embrace them as part of the VFL family vs hired guns who come and go annually. There is a fine model for unbridled free agency spending in the MLB. Check out that dumpster fire in NY…actually two examples up there…
The program is in great hands with Tony, but are the kids in great hands with Tony? I've heard the coaching staff keeps their distance from the pitchers (does not speak with them) which leaves them wondering where they stand. With exception, I think there's a bit of unhappiness at that point by the pitchers. Then it escalates to the thoughts of "this is bs" and leaving. Pitching somewhere where they think they'll get more innings. Now enter the thought of money. Beam seems content, may be getting some money although not as much if he hit the portal. But he's safe, he has a starters job in '24 and he'll get drafted next year. Burns got bumped from the starter role, yes his numbers weren't good and for some reading this that may be enough feedback, but Burns probably wanted more. After all, he's still a kid. I think he'll be drafted ahead of Beam next year and he's probably got people in his ear throwing around 6 figure value and a starting job elsewhere. He needs to be a starter to capitalize in the draft. Back to the question though, this was no overnight decision he made, its been simmering I'll bet. But the season goes fast and he has to wait until the season is over to file for the portal (well, he doesn't have to, but he didn't want to quit during the season) and I think he needs a discussion with Tony and paperwork with the Compliance Dept. So it's been simmering for months, but all goes down from the point they come home from Omaha and now, less than a week. When does the portal close, July 13th? Not sure, but you have a small window to make your move.
If Chase is doing this because someone is in his ear telling him he needs to. Then he's getting bad advice. Pitching out of the pen wouldn't hurt his chances at starting at the next level at all. Major league teams are desperate for starting pitching he would still get a shot. I mean hell the Reds tried to make Chapman a starter at one point.
Been a ton of talk about TCU..That would be a good decision on his part..Out of the SEC and straight to a contenders program.I think he shocks people and goes to a different conference actually TCU is rumored I hear might be where he goes. Everywhere he goes ball out young man get drafted high and get those big bags of cash during your career.
Burns did well as a Freshman, as a soph ok when changed to closer. point is, what's to say we don't get an upgrade from the Portal, the bench or a newbie. Trust the coaches. we have the #1 recruiting class at the moment we need some offense as well. Wash rinse and repeatI think this burns situation is what will make people sour on the portal if they didn’t already.
He’s getting playing time. He’s competing at the highest level as is his team. From what I can gather, he likes the coach and the coach likes him. Pro scouts seeing him is not an issue
And he’s leaving
We don’t have the #1 class coming in. It’s #20. Next years class is the oneBurns did well as a Freshman, as a soph ok when changed to closer. point is, what's to say we don't get an upgrade from the Portal, the bench or a newbie. FWIW, Drew Beam ain't going anywhere. That kid and his whole family are Vols. I hope we give him an NIL deal he deserves though. The program is in great hands with Tony, but are the kids in great hands with Tony? I find that very hard to believe. The program is in great hands with Tony, but are the kids in great hands with Tony?
