It really is crazy how much Tony Vols has made TN fans care about Baseball. 2019 I couldn’t name 1 damn player. Also ESPN Plus has changed everything being able to watch every game. We are putting almost $100 Million into Baseball Facilities. If you told me that was going to happen in 2019 I would have said you have lost your damn mind.

If Coach V had benefactors dumping millions of bucks at his feet to be distributed we would definitely be doing it. Ben McKee pretty well confirmed this week spilling the fact that Maui didn't get a fraction of some of the wildest numbers I saw being posted. I wish we did have some billionaire that would fund all these kids scholarship but you just know it isn't out there.

If this is the game, we have to play it I guess.

But I hate even calling the current system NIL.

Players should be allowed to make money from their name, image and likeness. If they have an instagram following, they have every right to monetize it. Or if some brand wants to do an endorsement deal, more power to them.

But the current system is the worst of both worlds. It's essentially pay-for-play, and the commitment is one-sided.

He needs to be a starter to capitalize in the draft. Back to the question though, this was no overnight decision he made, its been simmering I'll bet. But the season goes fast and he has to wait until the season is over to file for the portal (well, he doesn't have to, but he didn't want to quit during the season) and I think he needs a discussion with Tony and paperwork with the Compliance Dept. So it's been simmering for months, but all goes down from the point they come home from Omaha and now, less than a week. When does the portal close, July 13th? Not sure, but you have a small window to make your move.

Thoughts @preacherman20? This seems pretty opposite from what I imagine about the interaction from CFA and staff.

Still think we have Charlie but 1/2 regardless. But do kinda feel for Cal. He worked hard and gave great effort. We just have to have more offensively at that position. Cal did come up clutch in a couple moments in the postseason run throwing out runners.

Burns might have handled some things poorly through all this, but in the joy of that moment, I don't think he was focused on the coaches. If he directed his emotions at anyone, I'd have to think it would be his teammates.
