We can agree to disagree just like four years ago when you said my son would be a bad teammate and I would be a horrible player's parent. That aged well. This is not a divorce but a brother that has moved out. Once a brother always a brother. The players might not agree with each other's decisions but they are still brothers, or at least should be. My son will not stop being Hollis, Jake, Logan, Chase, Drew, Garrett, Evan, Zach, Alerick, or any of the other brothers he has played with brother just because they moved on. You might not like them but he is their brother. Once you fight with each other everything changes. Fan and players see the team different or at least they should. There are things that are shared in a locker room and dugout that should not be told outside that area to ANYONE ever. Just my belief or code.

Friends are one thing and yea those relationships shouldn’t die but when one transfers in this kind of “ugly” bad divorce way this family stuff is lost..

Friends are one thing and yea those relationships shouldn’t die but when one transfers in this kind of “ugly” bad divorce way this family stuff is lost..

Each invidividual within the "family" has a right to feel their own way about the transition/loss/divorce. I hardly think it is fair to say that everyone needs to react the same way. If Kirby and other teammates still value and appreciate that person and their shared experiences then that is a very healthy way to handle such events. Grateful for the time together instead of anger that it is over.

If some want to no longer have a relationship with the departing party then that is valid too and is their choice. I am not really sure what the argument is here. People handle transitions in their own way. Each person has to decide for themselves.

It’s def not a brand new team at all. We aren’t replacing at 9 position starters like the year before, return some pitching. The portal doesn’t suck especially for baseball. A lot kids would transfer to juco before goin back D1 baseball. Tennessee is doing what it needs to to be in a position to be a championship contender again.

Billy Amick is an interesting prospect.
It seems a little odd he would leave a program with a solid head coach and tangible recent success. However he is in the portal.

I have read three articles and a Clemson baseball forum to find out why he is leaving. Clemson fans are in various stages of grief and there is only opinion as to why he is leaving.

Apparently, Amick had little playing time (9 games) his freshman year. He DHed and played 1B. He batted below the Mendoza line and was not considered as a factor for this year.

Of course he is hitting over 400 this year and is a big piece of Clemson"s plan going forward. His entering the portal appears as a surprise to everyone. His head coach flew to the Cape to meet with him this week. If the meeting occurred Amick has not changed his mind.

The consensus seems to be Amick wants to play third base. Blake Wright a 3 year player for Clemson (2b , SS ) may be returning next year and is projected as a third baseman at the next level. (This is all speculation from Clemson fans).

SC beat writers seem to believe Amick is a perfect fit for the Gamecocks. Although they have a third baseman, the belief is that SC's third baseman would change positions to get Amick.

If Amick decides to play at Tennessee, and Zane Denton returns... hopefully Zane would consider a middle infield position.

Zane is too slow to play off base, imo

It sucks. Give me kids like Kirby, Sewell.... Ferguson, Russell etc..... kids that committ as a freshman and we get to actually watch grow and mature. Not whatever this crap is.
All these transfers aren't coming to ride the bench. They'll take prime spots from guys who have been here working their asses off to get a chance.
I'd rather see Kendro or Jaslove at short than Ammick. Give me DD or Tears in the OF. Give me Stark or Charlie behind the plate. Whether he wants to be here or not Give me a 3rd year Burns over Snead.

And it's really not. The NBA is where it's the worst at.
MLB guys stay with teams a lot. Mike Trout signed a 12 year deal that will keep him through the end of his career. Julio Rodriguez did as well, Atlanta has a team full of dudes that signed 10 year deals. Yeah they're signing massive contracts but they're staying in places for awhile so you get to know and enjoy them.

What are you talking about? It was always going to be a brand new team next year even IF we didn’t land portal guys. We’re losing Ahuna/Dickey/Scott/Denton in the field. You were always going to be rooting for “new” guys. What is the difference between a portal player or a true freshmen you don’t even know yet?

Keep an eye on Tennessee going into the weekend. The Vols already snagged Cannon Peebles out of the portal earlier this week, and I’m hearing they’re about to land yet another big-time bat in the portal in the next 24-48 hours. It’s a high-profile, powerful slugger. Stay tuned.
