Now that we have a pretty good idea of what the signing class will be (still waiting on Pearce and may get another February signee like Moten), we have a good idea of what our transfer portal needs are. Since we have addressed the need at OT with Mincey, I think the staff will look for the following:

-Jared Verse. Obviously. Day 1 starter and impact player.
-A plug and play LB. We hope Willis will develop, but it looks like our 2-deep at this point is Willis, Banks, and Beasley. Don't wanna depend on a freshman as the 4th guy.
-A plug and play WR. I know we are signing some good freshmen, but losing Jones and Payton, it would be nice to get a day 1 contributor on the other side of Tillman so the freshmen can ease in. Jacob Copeland? Was hoping Hooker could lure Tayvion Robinson from VT, but he's apparently going to Kentucky.
-A plug and play Safety. We missed on Gilbert. McCollough is too slow. I like Charles and McDonald, but we need more bodies there.

That's 5 transfers, counting Mincey. We've signed 20 and may add Pearce today for 21. Add the 5 and we're at 26. I'd say that would just about fill us up.

I think there will be more. Unfortunately, some guys are going to be given walking papers to make room.

Verse and Copeland would be really nice gets.

Agree that the back 7 could use a couple of immediate options. We need an upgrade at safety.

==> would be a big big Get. We need DEs and OLBs to help out immediately.

-A plug and play LB. We hope Willis will develop, but it looks like our 2-deep at this point is Willis, Banks, and Beasley. Don't wanna depend on a freshman as the 4th guy.
==> The Texas guy from last year is our 4th LB but we do need better LBs. Terrence Lewis would be a good get. Few more in portal now.

==> We need atleast 1 WR from portal that can play immediately and need Hyatt, Callaway etc to develop. Did not see anyone in freshman class that can play day 1. Copeland would be amazing.

-A plug and play Safety. We missed on Gilbert. McCollough is too slow. I like Charles and McDonald, but we need more bodies there.
==> Safety and CB are both needs. Burrell at CB gets beat too often. Turnage is a good asset. Need some help at both.

==> So we get 25 in signing class plus up to 7 replacements for transfers. We need one good RB. Once Tiyon was out, other RBs could not pass protect to help Hooker. 1 Immediate help RB and 1 OT would be great. I hear Cade may come back or Calbert .. but the way we had injuries last year, we need atleast one decent backup tackle.

We need an impact WR who can fill Velus's spot, especially if Tillman leaves. I know our WR class is great, but they're still freshmen, and if we lose Jones, Payton, and Tillman we're looking at almost all our production gone. So, yeah an impact WR would be nice.

And, obviously literally any good defensive player we can snag lol.

LB - Dont forget Mohan & Garland. Also if McCollough is too slow then beef him up and mover to LB.
Coach Banks had to go with what he had this past season and Tank had the experience at safety. He's athletic and it may be a correct assumption that he's on the slow side for a free safety but we need more than bodies next season. I think CJH is holding 2 spots at least and likely up to 4 just in case. I, for one, think Willis will step-up but we're still razor thin at LBer.

Auburn looks like a pretty good recruiting class with 18 commits - until you realize 6 of them are db's. 5 4 star db's and one 3 star.

I believe I read somewhere that we could sign 32(includes the transfer portal) this recruiting cycle/season. Is that right?

I would be happy if we could add immediate contributors at DE, DT, ILB, and WR. Even if Tillman stays, you can never have enough quality receivers. We could probably use some help in the secondary too.

Honestly, if we have the room, it would be great to add a transfer at every position group. We need to have serious competition for every spot.

We need to add a QB and a day one starter at RB in addition to the positions already mentioned in this thread (WR, DT, LB).

We are really thin at QB especially with Milton not being an actual viable option.
We need to big time RB to replace Evans and be the feature back in this offense.
Need a day 1 starter at WR to replace Payton and Jones.
Need a day 1 starter at LB and let the other guys develop.

I think we will land some really good players through the portal over the offseason.

Milton is absolutely a viable option. The offense still performed well with him at QB.

We already had good RB room, and now have a couple 4 stars coming in. Small lead the team in yardage and TDs. You always take an upgrade if it presents itself, but we're honestly good at RB.

I'd probably agree on the other 2 points.

LB is the biggest need and just like last year we need someone at every position group.

One position group we are better at than I think most realize is at WR.

I will be shocked if Hyatt doesn't become a force in this offense next year. He's primed for a big leap. This offense is prolific and he's perfect for it. Calloway was shelved, but aside from the FLA drop he looked like a dude. Keyton when called upon was solid. Merrill should be good. Holiday could be a weapon.

Add just the freshman we are bringing in to that group and we are probably deeper than we are this year.

And we are still likely to add a stud transfer.

I disagree completely on Milton. He’s terrible. Will be hard to get a good QB to transfer bc they would be behind Hooker for a year.
At RB, haven’t been impressed with Small. I think Wright will develop and pass him in the offseason. To get back to where we want to be, we need to better than Wright and Small at RB. Both are ok but not great. Hopefully we can land an impact player at RB. Would be huge for our offense
